Prices have dropped on the Denon 4400H

I have been seeing some significant discounts on the 4400H and have been considering purchasing one to replace my Pioneer SC67. Are there any owners of the 4400H who are unhappy with their choice? Would I be better off to wait for prices to drop on the 4500H? They both seem so close that I...

Low freq vs. High freq. when set to large or small speakers

if your receiver has more than one calibration memory settings than you can calibrate one of them with your speakers set to small for movies and another one with speakers set to large for two channel music.

Combining multiple audio streams to LG SK5Y (for Karaoke)

I'm not sure if this will help you or not but here is how we have our Karaoke system configured. Audio from computer is connected to the Audio "in" inputs on the back of our karaoke machine. Audio is connected to our AVR from the audio "out" on the back of our karaoke machine. Video goes...

It looks like it's time for a new AVR.

Thanks. My 60's aren't true full range. I think paradigm refers to them as 2/1/2 way speakers but I can consider them full range because they can handle bass down to 30 Hz which is lower than many "full range speakers". In my current set up I have my two front speakers bi-amped using an Adcom...

It looks like it's time for a new AVR.

Thanks Sam. Separates will be out of my budget so I'm better off with another AVR. Are you talking about the X3500H? I was wondering if that would have enough juice to drive my speakers adequately. it seems to have all of the features I would need and I like Denon.

It looks like it's time for a new AVR.

Some of you may already be familiar with my 4K issue with my Pioneer SC67. I purchased a 4K DVD player to replace my failing Sony Bluray player and the new player was unable to pass both video and audio through the same HDMI output. To use the player in my system I had to run a second HDMI...

    Help me adjusting my projector

What John said. Squaring up the projector with the wall is probably the most important thing to get right when mounting and adjusting your projector. Everything else can be dialed in using the projectors adjustments and the mount adjustments.

A question for Harmony Elite users.

Thanks for the explanation Brian. That makes perfect sense. I was at BB a few months ago taking a look at the Magnolia gear. The rep was kind enough to spend about an hour letting me audition some nice equipment I had no intention of purchasing. We started talking home theater control and...

Is it just me or are there not any new THX certified receivers?

I really love my Paradigm Studio reference speakers. They're Version 2 and I've had them for almost 20 years. They aren't THX certified of course but they've been well cared for and sound amazing. I'm still wondering if they are broken in yet...:)

A question for Harmony Elite users.

I did the same thing on mine. In fact this thing is so user friendly even my wife and kids understand how to use it and that's saying a lot. I added the commands to the touch screen for each activity so they're familiar and easy to get too. You can even edit the name of each command which is...

A question for Harmony Elite users.

I want to say that mine already did this on it's own when I created the different activities and that surprised me. For example if I switch between two activities which require my projector to remain on it already seems to recognize that my projector is on and only switches the two video...

You have me pegged on that one :).

Is it just me or are there not any new THX certified receivers?

This is exactly how I've always viewed it as well.

Never mind I finally figured it out.

A question for Harmony Elite users.

First off I love this remote. The only thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to add some functions to the activity that's been selected. What I mean is lets say I'm watching a movie. The remote swithes everything and then the controls on the remote work for the DVD player and I still...

Is it just me or are there not any new THX certified receivers?

Just realized how low my post count is for a guy who's been here since January of 1999! I need to post more lol.

Is it just me or are there not any new THX certified receivers?

Good observation. Makes sense that Dolby Atmos could be the reason. THX certification was a good way of knowing that an amp or receiver was good enough to comply with the strict testing parameters.

    Home Theater Speaker Comparison Question

You really want the speakers at ear level if you hang them. Sometimes the dimensions of our rooms doesn't always provide us with the best placement for speakers. As far as the speaker choices go I would try and demo them and purchase the speakers that sound the best to you and are with in...

Is it just me or are there not any new THX certified receivers?

Just an observation. I've been browsing new receivers just to see what's available and I'm noticing that the high end models don't seem to be THX certified. I'm not really in the market right now but it appears that becoming THX certified is less important to the manufacturers as it used to be...

No audio from connected 4K player.

Yes I've read this in the manual and have always used the BD HDMI input for my player. My new 50 Foot HDMI cable arrived today. I've tested it and it works so I'll be opening up the ceiling and running a second cable so I can run the video directly to my projector. I'm going to install some...

No audio from connected 4K player.

I remember the 4K compatibility among other features at the time was a huge selling point for me when I was shopping for this receiver. The price of early adoption indeed. If this receiver didn't sound so good and still perform all of its other functions I would probably just purchase...

No audio from connected 4K player.

John, This is what doesn't makes sense to me either. It does explain why the X700 has to HDMI outputs but like you said if it can pass through the video why can't it pass through the audio and video from the same output? There must be something in the receiver that won't read each signal...

No audio from connected 4K player.

Yes, and sadly I have the last firmware update for this receiver. It will pass through the 4K video signal and that's it. I'm going to open up my walls and do what should have done when I built the room and that's run a second HDMI cable to the projector. I should have a back up cable there...

No audio from connected 4K player.

The Adcom powers the drivers and the SC-67 powers the tweeters. It really does make a difference and I've tried using just the Adcom for the fronts and it sounded good. When I bi-amped the highs using my SC-67 it really opened things up. There's a level of dynamic range that didn't exist with...

Things I wish I would have done differently in my project

I wish I would have run two HDMI cables to my projector because now I have to rip the ceiling open to run a second one. I remember going back and fourth and decided against it since everything was going to run through my receiver. Come to think of it maybe I should have done a dropped ceiling too.

No audio from connected 4K player.

Well all I can say is that in my system it sounds amazing and there is a very big difference between just running my two front speakers from my SC-67. Maybe the pioneers MCACC calibration has helped balance things out.

One channel each speaker from the GFA and one channel each speaker from the SC-67

I'm bi-amping using the Adcom GFA-555 for the fronts. I like Marantz products so I'll keep my eyes open for a deal when I'm ready to upgrade. I'm always looking for external amps juts to keep an eye on costs.

No audio from connected 4K player.

John, The X700 has two outputs on the back. HDMI produces video and audio but will only send the video through my receiver. HDM2 only sends audio and will send the audio through my receiver. The issue is with the version of 4K HDMI my receiver will handle. I'll keep this player and connect...

No audio from connected 4K player.

Tried that and no joy. Thanks, I Have verified that I have the latest firmware update. I believe you are correct. My SC-67 just isn't compatible with the latest firmware update. Yes, the cable going to my projector is 4k certified I have tried multiple sources; DVD, BluRay, Netflix...
