    Aliens Expanded (Documentary) (Blu-Ray)

I purchased the digital version way back when. I wonder if they'll eventually make this extra content available as a digital download purchase...

    Aliens Expanded (Documentary) (Blu-Ray)

That's right, but it's not really that complicated. It's delivered as an MP4 download. I just moved the file to my Plex server and access it like I would any ripped Blu-ray. A bit inconvenient that it's not available on any streaming service, but workable.

    Also, wasn't the Blu-ray $99? Ouch.

    Aliens Expanded (Documentary) (Blu-Ray)

Casting to a display or streaming device is easy enough, and I can also add it to my Apple TV 4K library, but having this title dangling out there on the network in a folder somewhere is a PITA and a flashback to the early 2000's. If it ever shows up on iTunes for a cheaper pricepoint I'll...

    Aliens Expanded (Documentary) (Blu-Ray)

I ended up biting. It's cumbersome. You get a download link to FIVE separate files. The documentary itself is provided as both a 15GB MP4 file and a 15GB MOV file. If you want to watch it on your panel or projector, you have to find a way to either cast it or play it from your network, or copy...

    Aliens Expanded (Documentary) (Blu-Ray)

The digital version is available now, and the price has dropped to $29.99. There's no info that I could find about what PLATFORM the digital is accessible on, only that the video will be 1080p MP4.

    Aliens Expanded (Documentary) (Blu-Ray)

Like you, I don't think that any real new ground will be broken here. I think the main attraction of this documentary is the nostalgia factor and the fact that so many of the principal actors and production team came together to make it happen. Except for Weaver, who's absence leaves a huge hole...

    Aliens Expanded (Documentary) (Blu-Ray)

Maybe doing the voice work and mo-cap performance to portray a teenage Na'vi pushed her (or Cameron) over the edge. ;)

    Aliens Expanded (Documentary) (Blu-Ray)

I'd be very interested to hear why Sigourney Weaver isn't a BIG part of this project. Personal reasons? Money? Scheduling conflicts? Just not interested? Some weird Cameron thing? Anyway, at $99 + shipping for the physical release, I'm also hoping that a pared-down set will eventually be...
