Disney+ THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

He's not a General, he's a Senator. The same guy who introduced the new Cap, and took the title away from Walker in this episode. He doesn't have a name, but when the closed captions are on and he speaks off screen, he's simply named "SENATOR:"

Disney+ THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

 I just wish the looped timing was better coming from Marvel.

No comments on Zemo's dancing? That sure lit the rest of the internet on fire... :)

    Disney+ Marvel's WandaVision

And having just read this...on the internet... well... 😁

    Disney+ Marvel's WandaVision

I loved it all. My only complaints - Darcy needed to have a bigger part in the end. More the one thing she did. Agatha seemed a bit too one dimensional at the end. I hoped there was more for her after the battle. The only bright side is that hopefully she will be consulted by Wanda at a later...

    STAR TREK: Strange New Worlds

But, I would think that the CBS AA app itself will have an update with the new Paramount + app icon.

    Fantastic Beasts 3 (2022)

I don't know... give Mads the same bleached out haircut, and the same eye contacts (or digital "enhancement" as the case may be) and I think he would have a similar enough look to Depp's look in these movies to pull it off. Mads' voice is a bit more distinctive, though.

The War of the Worlds – Criterion Blu-ray Review

And, CinemaScope was going to be a licensed product from Fox at the time. Paramount was not about to pay Fox to use it, going for their own VistaVision instead - which didn't premiere until '54 with "White Christmas".

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Discussion Thread (SPOILERS!)

I agree, and I too like the sequel films - especially TLJ and TROS. TFA is just a bit more re-watchable though.

They’re Still Not Making Laser Discs Are They?

Agreed. Plus, you said "a simple adapter" and that's not. Any converter that requires power - and that device does - is beyond being a simple adapter.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

That was mentioned a lot for years. In fact, that complaint was lodged at all three leads at some point or another. For Shatner's part, I always saw it as how Kirk was at that time. Remember Decker's own assessment of Kirk early on... "Sir, you haven't logged a single star hour in two and a...

They’re Still Not Making Laser Discs Are They?

Colored vinyl, like this from 1984? Guess that player would have fits trying to read this disc...:)

They’re Still Not Making Laser Discs Are They?

Wow - a 3-movie set on Laserdisc for only 60 bucks. Wish my Star Wars Definitive Edition box set was that cheap. ;)

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

Besides the extra "VIEWER OFF!" and the "oh my God" - both from Kirk, the only other noticeable trim was while going through the cloud. There is a cut that can be heard in the music too. After years of listening to the soundtrack, I notice a jump in the music at one point in the DE. I forget...

Noah Hawley takes on the next Star Trek movie

I agree that Paramount seemed lost in what to do. The fact that there were 3 different plans for a Trek movie at the same time proves that lack of vision and a lot of potential waste. However, it seems that what Emma Watts is doing is possibly trying to find that vision - or, at least a focus...

Scott Atwell Star Trek Discussion thread (Series and Films)

I already had the individual widescreen movies on LD. I saw this boxed set, but didn't need it.

    Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

I don't hate this film. I like a lot of it. I don't like the whole TWoK rip-off scene at the end, and I still just roll my eyes at Spock yelling "Khan!!!" - which was not where Kirk did it in TWoK. Thinking about it, they did kind of structure a lot of this Khan's motivations around things...

    Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

Wow, talk about waking up a dead thread... but who am I to judge... I'm going to add to it :) Not only that, but right after ST 2009 came out, every entertainment magazine, blog, show, whatever, started shouting "Do Khan, do Khan..." I'm thinking all that time... "No, no... do something...

Scott Atwell Star Trek Discussion thread (Series and Films)

I had been gone from this thread for a while, but figured I'd pop back in. I'm starting a run of watching TNG again myself. Starting at S1. Mostly because my oldest son want's to see it. He loves TOS, including the movies and the re-boot movies. He's never really watched TNG or any of those...

    STAR TREK: Strange New Worlds

I came in here looking for a discussion on "Strange New Worlds" Yet, nothing about it in the last few pages. Weird. Guess I'll try again in a few days... ;)

Pre-Order Star Wars: A New Hope (4k UHD) Available for Preorder

Agreed. It's not just the sub-title painted out. The whole word/line spacing of the crawl is different. Plus, as noted, the timing with the swells in the music matches better with the appearances of the planets as the view pans down with the biggest swell happening just as Tatooine comes into...

Braveheart and Apollo 13 Fathom Events announced

I saw something about Apollo 13 coming up a month ago. Don't know if I'll get a chance to see it, but would like to if I can.

Pre-Order Star Wars: A New Hope (4k UHD) Available for Preorder

The did it least create a new scan of the opening crawl for Star Wars without the added "Episode IV - A New Hope" title. In fact, the quality is quite good what whole time - for being non-anamorphic - including the pan-down to Tatooine. The detail on the next closest planet in the distance is...

Star Trek: Picard - Season One - CBS All Access - starring Patrick Stewart

The first episode can be seen without CBS All Access on Amazon's Prime Video or the Fire TV for now. I assume they will have just the first episode available like that for a while.

Star Trek: Picard - Season One - CBS All Access - starring Patrick Stewart

I've always liked Generations. To me, it's more reminiscent of The Motion Picture in that it tries to address big ideas (very different ideas, but big ideas nonetheless). Didn't care for them throwing in a "bad guy". But, I agree that Shatner was great, and the whole sequence with him and...

Bond 25 - "No Time to Die" (2021)

I actually like a lot of the cues/themes from the first and third Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and generally liked the soundtracks for those overall. But the rest of his (or his factory's) material does seem interchangeable with any movie his scores. Wouldn't want to see a Bond score fall...

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Discussion Thread (SPOILERS!)

Okay, so that's a draft. How many re-writes would have occurred, and how may script-fixers would have had a hand in it had they stuck with Trevorrow's idea - regardless of whether he was kept as director or not? Some of those do sound like cool ideas, others... not so much. I doubt that half...

Pre-Order Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker & The Skywalker Saga (4k UHD) (Blu-ray) Preorder List

I remember paying $250 for just the original trilogy back in '93. Of course, it was the CAV Laserdisc Definitive Collection box set with a big-ass hardcover book included. I was also still single at the time. No way I can justify spending that much just on some movie collection today.

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I agree. I'd buy a properly done, fully restored official release of the OT in a heartbeat. But, I have what I need in the mean time that works well enough for me - and is so much better than the old laserdisc transfers put to non-anamorphic DVD.
