Sorry Lévesque, I wasn't trying to flame your post. I am in a similar situation (RX-V3000) and would love to move up to seperates if my budget allowed. I think adding a 5 channel amp to a receiver is a good first step, not the end of the process. Glad to hear you are happy with the upgrade!

Sorry, I didn't take into consideration the exchange rate, but here (US) both units seem to MSRP at a similar price . I would still expect that a dedicated Pre/Pro combined with a decent amp is almost always going to sound better than an all-in-one receiver package's preamp with the same amp...

Sounds like you've put together a great setup. However, you can't expect a $1500 MSRP receiver's preamp to compare to a Rotel pure pre/pro costing more than the entire Yamaha, can you? Just a thought... R
