As I stated, it's not to me either - I'm just genuinely interested as to whether maybe there is a reason for it. The world of Hitchcock has always fascinated me and any information that can add to my knowledge would be gratefully received.:)

One thing I'm still concerned about is that every review I've read seems to reference the poor quality of the mono mix on the Vertigo disc - not in terms of the fact that it is mant generations away from the "master", which would appear to be inevitable, but in terms of the amount of hiss, pops...
