Thr tray on the black F85 I messed with had a nice smooth/quiet sound as it moved in and out. Same with the disc tray itself (no whiny gear noises like on my R31 dvd player :frowning:).

Guessing again: if Panasonic wrote "dvd-audio" on the box and on the website ("DVD-Audio (2-channel only)") it looks like it's going to do just that.
IMO, that sure is rather dumb on their part: the F85 is $150 and the F65 is $130. A dinky $20 price difference--what the.....? :confused:

After checking out the F65 player I am guessing with this but:
Nowadays almost all major brand dvd-video players use 192khz/24bit DACs so that means they could decode the hi-res (stereo) tracks on a dvd-audio disc. Then I thought, wait a minute, dvd-audio almost always uses the Meridian...
I saw the F85 again last night at Best Buy. So unless they have a holodeck installed there :)............(and thank goodness it shows that "Advanced Resolution" swirley logo on its display card like the discs themselves have.)

The black F-85 at Best Buy looked very nice. And its drawer mechanism worked smoothly and quietly. And yes, the display & buttons are WAY too small. Luckily the remote is better designed.
