What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I've been watching early episodes of Murder, She Wrote via Amazon Prime--I find its formula very soothing, despite never having watched it before (it was a favourite of one of my grandmas, so I avoided it). I love that the show seemed to cast a lot of Old Hollywood...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I suspect the sheer number of episodes for The Saint and Danger Man and the pandemic probably have delayed any plans. I think Gerry Anderson’s Stingray is being considered for Blu-ray, but I would also bet on The Champions being the Blu-ray candidate—one season is a safe bet!

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) Complete Series on Blu-ray, the second-to-last ITC Blu-ray set I need to complete my collection. I emailed Network to ask if they're considering Blu-ray releases of Danger Man and The Saint, but they said no. C'est dommage.

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

A Year Two supporter! A rare sighting! :P Seriously, I do enjoy many elements of S2 and I'm glad to have it on Blu-ray. As much as I love S1, its coldness and lack of character development resulted in reduced viewership in the USA (it was particularly popular in Canada, but that's because the...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I'm continuing my revisit of Space: 1999 Season 2, but I keep falling asleep lol. The AV quality on Network's Region B Blu-ray is astounding, but the actual episodes are very disappointing, quality-wise. I remember "Space Warp" as the second half of the Cosmic Princess compilation movie from my...

Question about "The Avengers" TV series

Sadly, they are not. Region B only.

Question about "The Avengers" TV series

I believe it's Studio Canal that has the rights to The Avengers and The New Avengers, not Network (though they have released some exceptional Blu-ray and DVD releases of splendid British spy and adventure series). I have held off buying the Region 2 DVD set of The New Avengers in anticipation of...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

While waiting for several British TV Blu-rays to arrive, I'm having a blast revisiting Gerry Anderson's UFO and Space: 1999 on Blu-ray--the AV presentations of both shows are spectacular in HD and are superior to the episodes streaming currently on Amazon Prime. I watched Space: 1999's "The...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

We just ordered a lot of British TV shows on Blu-ray and DVD (being region free is really the way to go): Chef!, The Young Ones, Rik Mayall Presents, Filthy, Rich, and Catflap for my partner, while I finally ordered Space: 1999 Series 2, The Persuaders!, and Department S on Blu-ray (I’m looking...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I'm writing a piece on Friday the 13th: The Series, so I purchased all three seasons on DVD and am poring over select episodes--despite the shot on film/edited on videotape look, I'm having a blast revisiting the series! I had always meant to pick these up, but $35 CAD for all three sets is a...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I'm catching up on the various Star Trek series, so recently I decided to watch Star Trek: Enterprise's "Xindi" storyline of Season 3. While there are the inevitable clunkers associated with producing 26 episodes a season, I really enjoyed this season-long arc. Scott Bakula never felt like a...

Other CBS Shows VEI could release

There aren't too many CBS/Paramount shows I'd want, but a complete set of ONE STEP BEYOND would be fantastic. CBS only released the 1st season and the multitude of PD sets are less than desirable (which likely impacted sales for CBS, dooming the other seasons).

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I've ignored cable in favour of revisiting some 70s classics: a smattering of HARRY O (the two telefilms and some S1 episodes), THE ROCKFORD FILES on Blu-ray, and QUINCY M.E. S3. The latter was so good, I finally ordered S4 and S5 (the latter is fetching exorbitant proces from third-party Amazon...

Lynda Carter in HD? I’m sooooo there!

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I hope you’re enjoying it—I liked Season 1, warts and all, but I thought the show really improved with Season 2. My 8-year-old nephew has been getting into Star Trek recently and Discovery is his favourite. I’m trying to convince him to watch the original and DS9, but without success yet. :D

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Thank you for the kind words. My partner’s dad was only diagnosed 3 weeks ago, so it’s shocking to us. It’s such an aggressive cancer—I’m sorry you had to experience it with the loss of your brother. I hadn’t seen WKRP since the 80s (I watched the first few episodes of the New WKRP in the 90s...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Dealing with the pandemic and a recent family loss because of pancreatic cancer prompted me to revisit all 4 seasons of WKRP. I forgot how comforting its characters and plots were—no weak characters in the bunch! I’m still impressed with Shout! Factory’s feat in licensing the majority of the...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I grew up watching reruns with my mom, so I purchased the S1-2 set to see if it held up to scrutiny and it did! I need to look up the season in which Quincy rages against punk rock (my favourite music genre) in an infamous episode. During the pandemic, my interest in revisiting old TV shows has...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I need some soothing 70s dramatic TV, so I purchased Quincy Season 3. Righteous indignation, courtesy of Jack Klugman!

Kino Lorber has TV Titles from Universal...

I don't have the DVDs, but clearing the music for Northern Exposure on Blu-ray for a NA release would be costly, so that probably rules it out (unless they go with whatever the DVDs used/omitted)--the UK has different music copyright laws, so it's a not an issue for home video releases. Many TV...

Pre-Order The Good Place: The Complete Series (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

Fully agreed! I contemplated picking up the UK Blu-rays, but I like having a complete series release in North America. I hope we can see future BDs of Parks and Rec and Brooklyn Nine Nine as well!

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I watched some S1 episodes of Star Trek from the Roddenberry Vault Blu-ray set--listening to Dorothy Fontana's commentary for "This Side of Paradise" was bittersweet, but I'm glad it exists. I've been resisting the urge to watch TNG episodes like "Measure of a Man" before episode 2 of Picard...

Other CBS Shows VEI could release

If CBS-Paramount are still proceeding with licensing shows to VEI, I'd love to see the entire One Step Beyond released on DVD. The 1st season set released by CBS was nice, especially with all the shoddy PD releases, but I want the other seasons in good condition.

Kino Lorber has TV Titles from Universal...

My guess is Buck Rogers in the 25th Century--cult genre TV shows seem to be the few that do well on Blu-ray (like The Outer Limits for Kino). Like OL, there are only 2 seasons and the show is available in HD (and yes, Blu-rays exist in other territories). Alfred Hitchcock Presents/Hour feels...

    2020 TV Releases Guesses?

I’m hoping 2020 is the year that Kolchak: The Night Stalker is upgraded to Blu-ray! Most of the series I want on Blu-ray are Disney-Fox (Millennium, Buffy, Angel, Alias), so I’m not expecting any physical releases anytime soon. The cost of restoring DS9 or Voyager for HD might still be too...

The Twilight Time News and Info Thread

I probably own 75-100 Twilight Time titles on Blu-ray, so I hope they continue in some form. Losing Nick Redman and the Disney-Fox merger have been challenging, but I do hope they continue to release new films in 2020. TT has carved its own niche among the boutique labels, so regardless if they...

    TV on DVD news roundup

I’m disappointed that Black Lightning is DVD MOD only (the first CW DC show not to be released on Blu-ray). I guess sales of S1 wasn’t good, which is a shame, as I prefer the series to the Arrowverse shows (and BL will be appearing in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover). I guess it...
