Episodes of Classic TV Shows Out Of Syndication

I know of the quick cuts to i love lucy but daytime tv rerun commercials for all 3 networks of the in the b&w era consisted almost entirely of bumpers for primetime & daytime programming since the conventional wisdom of the time was that you couldn't even give daytime commercial slots away let...

Episodes of Classic TV Shows Out Of Syndication

As someone who watched a lot of daytime reruns when i was down with a broken leg back in 1959, i can say with certainty that extra cuts to fill time with commercials was not a thing and would not be for about 20 more years, the daytime reruns consisted of the same 4:30 minutes worth of...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

As much as i would like this to be the case, the modus operandi of VEI has been to exclude black and white shows and to focus exclusivley on color shows made from late 1960s onward, I don't know what the exact fate of these black and white shows is going to be, but i highly, highly doubt VEI is...

    DVD sets with pixelation

I checked a all of the suspected bootleg sets a few of them were in fact single layer, but one of the poor quality sets Mr. Ed has a gold finish when shone to the light and two bar codes, could it still be a bootleg?

    DVD sets with pixelation

Sorry to sound like an old fool but how are these bootleggers getting ahold of such sophisticated equipment that they can reproduce the cases and the boxes and other little accesories so perfectly, my maude set even came with the booklet.

    DVD sets with pixelation

For the past couple years it seems that i havd been getting stuck with dvd sets that have all the symptoms of compession, like pixelation, flucuating bit rates etc, without actually being compressed, I'm not sure what's causing it, it seems to be consistent across all my dvd players and all my...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

A bit dissapointing but even in this condition the current sydication prints of our miss brooks are leagues ahead of the prints that used to run back in the 80s, which ran about 21:30 minutes with all the tag scenes being cut out entirely.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I dont think that is the case because the Our Miss Brooks syndicated cuts that ran in the 80s clocked in at about 21:30 minutes and were all missing they're tag scenes, which is not the case with HD syndication masters, which run 22:30 and have tag scenes.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I dont understand why they would use the syndicated print, this may sound ignorant to some of you, but when they restored Our Miss Brooks for syndication a few years ago wouldnt they have restored the unedited master and then make the edits later (sincs its all done digitally anyway), if so why...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Just bought Ben Casey, waiting for Amazon to post up Our Miss Brooks, and while I am very happy to be seeing Ben Casey after all these years it unfortunate to have to be paying these outrageous prices just for the privilege, If they end up releasing the entirity of both Our Miss Brook & Ben...

Ozzie & Harriet Release From Sam Nelson?

I forgot that father knows best was a radio show as well, but I think you're missing the point I am trying to make.

Ozzie & Harriet Release From Sam Nelson?

I meant that its the perception that the show is generally thought of the same sort of family with comedy with moral lesson attached in the vein of shows like father knows best or leave it to beaver, when in fact it is a show which seems to have no known parellel with other comedies of it's era...

Ozzie & Harriet Release From Sam Nelson?

I have always thought Ozzie & Harriet got the shaft by the younger generations thinking it was some father knows best clone, when it was in fact one of the top 10 comdies of the B&W era, I absolutely think that Ozzie Nelson was comic genius in his own way, definitely paved the way for shows like...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

At least that means that they are not sourced from the old worldvision tapes in the 80s which ran about 46 or 47 minutes, hopefully they have plans to fast track the show in a similar fashion to the way they are handling My Three Sons.

    Crystal Ball time once again!

If i am not mistaken I believe that the entirerty of season 1 of One Step Beyond is PD, it is just select episodes from seasons 2 & 3 which still remaimed liscened under CBS, so that could be a possibility that season 1 gets re-released.

    Crystal Ball time once again!

I wonder what has caused this sudden impetus on the part of CBS to start digging through the vaults to give us these classics, hopefully this is not just a blip and that the pattern continues for a few years. By the way I hope it's the Defenders.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Not to be rude but why would spend hours upon hours extacting files and editing them to create color consistency when you could spend 5 seconds turning off the color on your TV to get virtually the same effect.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

The only other B&W CBS show i can think of with readily availiable elements is The Millionaire, so that may be a Possibility.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Unfortunately, Jack Benny seems to have major rights issues, to the point that even where even the time-life set had to use the same handful of PD episodes instead of previously unreleased material because of the music rights. As to my knowledge, Bob Cummings seems to suffer a fate similar 50s...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I wonder for ben casey, if they are using the 35mm masters or the timesped worldvision tapes that used to air back in the 80s. Regardless I'll gladly buy it. But i suspect that the worldvision tapes are going to be the source material simply because little work and money needs to be allocated to...
