Just spent the majority of my lunch hour checking out two Best Buys and a Target here in the KC suburbs. I can confirm that there are no copies of The Game out on the shevlves. At least not here in flyover country.
Just returned from Best Buy with an armload of Blurays. The two Bond sets The Ultimate Matrix (to replace my HD-DVD box) Scarface Gone Baby Gone (found in a $7.99 bin) Rounders and Good Will Hunting (both on sale for $6.99 at my store) Going to pre-order Super 8, 12 Angry Men, and Rushmore...
I traded in Pulp Fiction, Office Space, and The Blues Brothers for The Blues Brothers, The Big Lebowski (another HD-DVD off the upgrade list), and Good Will Hunting. Also picked up the big Star Wars box and Portal 2 with some gift cards I had been saving for a rainy day. It looks like Christmas...
Looks like a pretty good week. I'll be picking up Zombieland, Mystic River, and Last King of Scotland for sure. The Best of gameshow titles might be a fun Netflix rental.
As badly as I want Moon, I'm not willing to pay $26 for any Bluray. That sort of eliminates my planned blind-buy of The Hurt Locker, too. I don't know what the studios are thinking, it's almost like they don't want me to buy their product.
Thanks for six great years, Mike and Patrick. I haven't been around for all of them, and I'm largely a lurker, but I've certainly saved money and invested time into fantastic films thanks to your efforts. One specific example I can think of is I am a Fugitive in a Chain Gang. If not for coming...
Yeah, I'm with you. I remember how much screaming from the rafters there was last year when TDK wasn't in the top 5. I guarentee you Avatar will be in the top 10... heck, you could almost argue that the backlash TDK's snub (a deserved snub, IMO) last year is the reason they moved to 10 nominees.

I don't know anything about Cameron/Bigalow but I did learn from "Nine" that it's pretty difficult to be married to a director. I wonder how maniacal someone like Cameron or Jackson is when they sit down with a big project. I'm sure a couple years of 20 hour days are a given. It'd be...
As someone who loves movies, numbers, and history, I'm eating up the data on Avatar eagerly. I'd like nothing more than to see it make a run at Titanic. Another thing I'm tracking is how many days in a row it can sell out the IMAX theater here in Grand Rapids. It's already booked today and...
Reading the comments at that deadline.com site makes my head hurt.
We've seen Sherlock Holmes, Up in the Air, and Nine in the past 36 hours. It was a great weekend for movies.
Thanks again for a great 2009, Terry. Happy New Year.
Ron, I'm late to this thread, but I just wanted to point out that you should be sure to watch the episodes with "Notes about Nothing" turned on. The notes really add a lot to the episodes without distracting from the show itself. Hope you enjoy the box, I can't imagine what it would be like to...
Ugh. Struggling to make back a $5 million budget? Makes me sad. At least it'll live on, and hopefully find an audience, on Blu-Ray. Thanks for the information.
Hey Terry, been a long time since I've been around, but I had a quick question regarding Moon. Specifically, how has it done? It's been out for at least a month here, down to only a 9:25 show in one theater in town, but surprisingly the theater was 2/3s full last night. My wife and I enjoyed...
A little off topic, but I figure you guys are the best folks to ask. What the heck is going on with Glengarry Glen Ross? It's no longer available on Netflix or Amazon and I went in to buy a copy at Best Buy yesterday and they couldn't find it in their computer. Is it OOP now? Is there some sort...
Doesn't really add to the discusion, but I started reading the Popcandy USA Today blog recently. Whitney rounded up the best of the comments from yesterday's Lost post and compiled them. Some interesting (and funny) stuff. Plus you have to love the Dharma milk. 'Lost' in a flash: Best of the...
Do yourself a favor and rent The Visitor this weekend. Richard Jenkins gave a better performance than Leonardo Dicaprio. I doubt I'm in the minority of people who would say that after watching both films. In other words, it was far from "out of nowhere."
AFAIK, we haven't. There's a theory out there suggesting that she might be Annie... but I don't know if I believe that yet. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Annie
Man, no TDK, could almost have seen that coming... but no Gran Torino or Wrestler in best song? I guess having your song play in the credits isn't the way to go.
I'd love to see Clint come out of nowhere and take Langella's supposedly locked-up nomination, but it's probably just wishful thinking. Still, last night's Rourke win has to open things up a bit... the VCB win over Mamma Mia and Rourke beating Penn/Langella were the two moments that made me pump...
Caught Revolutionary Road and Vicky Cristina Barcelona over the weekend. RR gets insterted at #3 behind Encounters and Milk and VCB comes in at a theoretical #11. Great movie, but didn't quite get four stars from me.
