One of the best DVD's I've purchased. It gave my SVS PC Ultra a real workout. It bottomed a few times but I like my bass on the slightly heavy side by a few db so that may have had something to do with it. I turned the volume down a few db half way into the flick so I wouldn't destroy my sub:)...
I have Voom and was wondering if the difference in picture quality will be noticeable. I'm really happy with my Sammy CRT widescreen but if the difference is significant I'll upgrade to the 60" JVC Dila. I hve a buyer for my set but want to be sure I'm doing the right thing. Thanks, Joe
Here are some pics of my space. It's kind of a strange arrangement but it's what I have to work with. I was thinking of putting them where the dots are located. The right surround is pretty straightforward but the left surround I have 3 options (A, B, C). Option A puts the left rear behind my...
Any links to online retailers that offer good service and selection? Also how do I tell if the DVD-A has any video along with it? Any suggestions for some good demo discs. I'm just getting started. Thanks, Joe
My PC ultra is located on my basement floor which is not that level. The berber carpet pile is very low so any undulations in the floor are not masked. Anyone have any good tips to level this beast?? It looks a little crooked but sounds wonderful:) Thanks, Joe
The gain on my sub is set at 1.5 hashes below 12 o'clock. I am only using 1 input with no "Y" connector and my DVD player's audio section is flat. My outlaw is also set at zero with no gain. I had calibrated with Avia and an spl meter. Joe
Thanks Ed. I set "my" reference level to 80db, not that it will likely make too much difference. Any ideas on how to properly calibrate it so it doesn't bottom? I have tried it at -20db, OK. -15db, Ok -10db and it bottoms out, at least that's what it sounds like. Remember my reference is -5db...
Thanks Scott. I am using a coaxial connection from my Pamasonic RP 91. I'm not sure how to tell if PCM is on or not. I am also using an Outlaw 950 and all sub settings, midnight modes etc are off. I played around with the phase a bit and found that "0" worked best. I have my ROcket 750's...
Hmm, I checked the subsonic filter and it was set at 16hz which is wrong for my tune. It should have been set at 20hz. I'm not sure how much this would have affected it. It may have been switched when I moved it around. Since Zack is saying the actual spl measured by the ratshack meter is a...
I have everything hooked up and used Avia to calibrate. The reference 85db was too loud so I used a reference of 80db. The sub was a tad hotter at maybe 82 possibly 83db. Anyway while watching the Matrix the suggested scenes were TOTALLY different from yesterday when I watched them with my old...
Thanks for the thoughts. I went with the Ultra for a few reasons. 1. The box is gigantic. Since I have limited placement options (see room pic above) I was afraid that I may not be able to make it work optimally. 2. The tube is almost the same height as my 750's so I think it will look good...
I have a pair of Rocket 750's and need a new sub. I have narrowed it down to these 2 subs. The Ultra uses a kick @ss woofer, has a smaller footprint but is a few hundred more than the PB12-ISD/2. The PB12 is HUGE but also sports 2 woofers. Here is a pic of my space. Any advice??? No real corners...
I have a pair of Rocket 750's powered by a 150wpc Adcom amp. I am looking for a new sub and was thinking about the PB12-ISD/2. I am curious though if it's worth the extra money? My listening space is medium sized but the room itself is about 3500sq/ft. Do I need the extra power of the ISD/2...
Paradigm's are nice but the deftech's really have me sold. Those are the ones I want in my heart. I like the idea of a sub in the center channel and I also like the bipolar surrounds. My room is very iregular and I think they would perform the best given that environment. There is a local dealer...
Hi,
2 of my friends and I want to buy a Definitive Technology speaker system for our HT's, I'll need 3 sets. Anyone know who discounts these?
Thanks,
Joe
Should I turn my scan velocity modulation down to zero on my RPTV? I know the service code to do it I was just wondering why. I don't really know what it is or does.
Thanks,
Joe
Hi Everyone,
I have a limited budget of $500 for a receiver and was thinking of the above 2 as they appeared to be good choices. I like the HK as it has dual room capability and also has an extra s video input but the OUtlaw also seems nice and easy to use. Any thoughts on which one would be a...
