Temple of Doom must have been a favorite of the director, since he pretty well lifted the "team" premise from that film for this one, with the addition of "Short Round V2.0" and a more capable female heroine.
I think it is hilarious going about historical accuracy of background music in a film where 3 wheeled carts with a single cylinder two stroke engine can keep up with and even overtake cars with V8s in them.
That is the most memorable thing in this whole film; the absurdity of those tuk tuk cars...
This movie has only been in the theatre for less than 3 days. What is with unspoilerized details? Not everyone goes to see a film in the first 2 days of release. I check in here to get people's impressions of the film, not read details.
I agree that the last trilogy of Star Wars films were all garbage, bit I think the various TV series have been good and I believe she has been in charge of those.
The quality level with this series has been uneven. RoTLA good. ToD not so good. IJ and The Last Crusade good. KoTCS bad.
I'm hoping this follows the pattern and turns out good; Although, in my book, it won't take much for this film to reach and surpass the low bar that was KoTCS.
Rational or...
ToD at least had a level of inaginativeness to it, even though it was a weak followup to RoTLA. KoTCS was just dull through and through. It didn't help having Shia LaBeouf in it.
To me, this one couldn't be any worse than KoTCS which was even worse than ToD.
Good point. I was looking at it as if he was a Professor which he wouldn't have been in 1936 when he was dating her. So, my bad.
It all depends on where their relationship took place. In Georgia the age of consent was 14 until 1995. In 21 other States the age of consent was 16 after 1920.
It...
Maybe no one has brought it to the attention of a bored reporter yet. We should hope they don't find this thread or they may start asking questions. ;)
Edit: changed headline line seeking. Bored seems more appropriate.
I know that was the intent. The problem is those two words have become so loaded and over used by certain segments that it is hard to not take their use seriously.
Seriously, now we are invoking "cancel culture" because a concern is brought up over a brain dead writer decision to make Indiana Jones look like he may have committed statutory rape?
Whether he did or he didn't is only being brought up because a writer created that opening by:
A) thinking...
Professors don't tutor students at their homes. If a student needs help they go to the Professor's office on campus. It is just a movie, but the writer was being lazy in not considering how it would look for Indy to have a student at his house, whether it was for help studying or any other reason.
A lot of this shows Indiana Jones as morally challenged. A Professor "entertaining" one of his female students is unethical, morally wrong and a fireable offense.
All I can say is this film couldn't be any worse than Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull, so I'll most likely give it a chance even though I think Indiana Jones and the Triple Tennis Ball Walking Stick of Doom would be a more accurate title. Sometimes you have to realize that it is time to hang up...
I thought it looked pretty well done in the trailer, but I'm sure there will be no end of comments that it is terribly done and the uncanny valley, because there will be a certain segment that will never think that CGI'ing actors could be done well.
Frankly, while I think they should have just...
I think it was less about lack of creative energy and more about the constant shit and abuse he was taking over STAR WARS. Granted he brought plenty of that on himself with a.lot of decisions, especially in regards to the OOT.
However, I think by the end what had started as fun had turned into...
I can always hope, but I'll wait on reviews which I normally never do. I guess one can look at it from the POV that the next one can only be better if gauged against KOTCS.
I looked up some indo after I posted my comment and I think you are correct. It looks like those scenes with WW2 Era Nazis...
I'll wait until the reviews are in on this before even entertaining the thought of seeing it. KOTCS was terrible and, frankly, I find it hard to believe this film will be an improvement with its main star pushing 80.
What is even weirder us that they seem to be setting this back in the WW2 Era...
We need an "Indy 5" like we need another hole in the head, no matter who directs it. The last one was terrible and the character of Indiana Jones is identifiable with Harrison Ford like no other character, outside of Han Solo......maybe even moreso than Solo, because in the Star Wars films...
It just shows how subjective the definition of a "good" or "bad" film is. I think TLJ is one of the worst STAR WARS films ever made and most others on this board think it is one of the best. Different strokes for different folks.
The chronological quality of these films is interesting to say the least. Good, bad, good, bad. Maybe the fifth one will manage to be good. Although, I'm not sure how they are going to pull it off with Harrison being of an advanced age.
Well, that was my mistake as well. I always forget that that film was a TV film, not a theatrical one. So, looking at from the point of theatrical film releases, I see your point.
The difference was that the fantasy elements in the first three were all based on some historical myth or reality and were actually well integrated in the construction of the stories.
My issue with CS wasn't so much the aliens. It was all the less than interesting characters and situations that...
