Odd. Maybe they're trying to cut down on several small credit card purchases (and the associated transaction fees), hoping you'll use the cash to buy tix and/or food instead of making more charges inside?
From a financial view, I think that may have played better with a larger audience. I'm not sure many fans are that excited about the story of an old, depressed Indy.
I know I'd be more interested/excited if there were more cameos from characters from the original trilogy.
He started on the script after he was hired as director in May 2020. Ke Huy Quan's "comeback" hadn't really blossomed yet, but they still could have included him. I would have been much more interested to see that character again in this film.
Mangold said he wanted to go back to Raiders for...
I'm not sure why that was kept secret anyway. This is being set up as the finale of the franchise. The bigger surprise/spoiler for me would have been if that did not occur.
I'd imagine the filmmakers are not expecting people to be focusing on the rope as the most important part of that scene. It's also possible they forgot to put the rope in the scene when filming and just noticed in post-production that he should still have a rope around his neck in that scene.

I believe the $65 million prediction is the traditional 3-day opening (Fri-Sun).
From Deadline: "By the way, that outlook is for the three-day weekend, not the extended five-day frame — Friday though Tuesday — of the Independence Day stretch, with the holiday falling on the last day. As is...
Well, they reportedly spent $185 million on Crystal Skull and that was 15 years and lots of world turmoil in the past, so the budget for Dial doesn't seem completely out of line. I imagine all the regulars got big paydays, probably including Lucas and Spielberg as creators and/or EP's.
I think...
Haven't there already been a bunch of reviews? The film premiered at Cannes weeks ago. Critics' opinion at Rotten Tomatoes is at 56% (considered 'rotten') based on 50 reviews.
Just checked my local theater to see how many tix have been sold for the Thursday previews. Across two shows a grand total of 3 tix have been sold (the red seats in 7:00 show).
Either people are waiting to the last minute or this is going to bomb.
Early projections have Dial of Destiny opening at $60 million. Sounds like the early premiere at Cannes was a bad decision.

One sounds like someone who has a knowledge of and interest in the source material and the creative process. The other sounds like someone who gives no thought to the creative aspects of the project and just shows up to collect his paycheck.
I've always pretty much seen Ford as an asshole in real life. I like his characters, but don't care for the person. He was a carpenter who hit it lucky early on with a couple of roles in popular franchises and it seems like his ego inflated to massive proportions.
And still others like me that want more films with a recasting (and wish they'd recast the role in 2008).
Little interest in Geezer Indy (though I'll still watch the film at least once) and no particular devotion to Harrison Ford in the role. If multiple actors can play James Bond, Superman...
