With TiVo you can 1,3,5,6. You can trade 3 for 2 if you subscribe to DirecTV. There is plans to add 2 next year, but w/o 3. I like the DirecTiVo combined with TyTool to author edited DVDs on my computer - but that does require cracking the box to 'update' the software.
If Tuner A is on 234 and Tuner B is on 456 and you switch (TA) to 456 TiVo will actually just swap tuners instead of having TA and TB set to 456 - so TA will then be 456 and TB be 234. If you pause before you switch, TiVo should definetly ask you when it needs to switch the channel on the...
They aren't that smart. For example I recorded the Speed Challenge races last weekend the Speed had them all delayed 20min due to a race that ran long much earlier in the day - so I missed the last 20 min. They also don't handle those Presidential TV announcements well (though last time from...
If you are an existing DTV customer you can get quite a deal on the HDVR2 with installation and upgrades to existing switches and stuff if needed. See http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...hreadid=113026 for a $159 offer + $25 shipping.
Its been a few years, but Uncle Stereo got me my speakers at a great price in great shape. I was worried and they seemed somewhat slimy, but they came thru. Not sure what their current status is. Did they charge your credit card? How long since you placed the order?
You can use two $300 sets of stackers to limit you to two cables.
You can run all the receivers you want if you run four cables from the LNBs to the multiswitch (located closer to the receivers) - then a cable per tuner from the multiswitch.
With a single DTiVo and HDTV receiver you only...
TiVo has a 30 day MBG on TiVo services.
I find the picture to be slightly degraded on my standalone in best, but it is especially noticable on bright yellow/orange screens. It seems some of the Sony flat screens have extra sharpening or processing that makes the TiVo picture look worse than...
1) They dropped ESPN Classic because Charlie does not like the fees ESPN is charging.
2) If you go to http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/p...id=11&sortby=1 to see all the channels they offer. 7 stations are on the main sats, but 5 smaller stations are on the satellite at 61.5. This requires a...
I do not know if the Sony DTiVo uses the standard Sony DTV IR codes, but you can not control a Hughes or Philips DTiVo with a standalone TiVo.
BTW the DTiVo rules.
There are no plans to ever add PVR functionality to the 6000. OpenTV isn't even planned (at least on the early models).
They do have a PVR921 in the works to record HDTV. Should be out in about a year.
You should be able to get a oval dish cheap by going to Blockbuster and signing up for thier cheapest system and tell them you want the ParaTodos (Spanish) option.
Then actually sign for Total Choice when you call it in (or switch packages after the installer leaves if they sign you up)...
I think the Zenith is the newest DirecTV HD receiver and it has some advantages (and disadvantages).
The Panny, RCA, and Mitsu units are out there too.
You can run one of the lines from the LNB (ie one input from the 4x4 switch connected to a line feeding one of the receivers) directly to the receiver and see if the receiver works.
If you pick the 101 receiver you should get just about everything, if you pick a 119 LNB you should get the NASA...
You need to run a single cable for each tuner from the 4x4 (or 4x8) multiswitch (ie two cables for DirecTiVo with both tuners).
No splitters. No daisy chainging.

If you only need to see one satellite and have only one cable you can get stacker units to stack both polarities onto one cable...
It will go away when the contest is over.
I don't mind it too much, but I wish the Gold Star would go away!
And I wish they were giving away an IS300 instead of an ES300.
Michael - if you enter and win you can give it to me. I would really appreciate it.
Someone said Crossing Jordan had an HDTV logo on it.
Wouldn't know here (Denver, CO) since there is not real HDTV available OTA.

You do NOT need to have it professionally installed. You are required to PAY for a professional installation though.
(Some retailers are getting around this though).

I am pretty sure the DirecTiVo (an APG box) will only allow you to add stations DTV carries.
All the HDTV boxes have OTA tuners (HDTV and NTSC) and will allow you watch an antenna feed.
Do the APG HDTV boxes really carry guide data all the OTA stations for an area that DirecTV doesn't offer...
It tends to call in about every 25 hours once it is set up and running (but skips primetime).
So you can hook it up and force the call or hook it up overnight.
You can also buy RCA RC930 or Phonex PX-441 'wireless' phone jacks that plug into your wall power outlets that add a phone line. They...
