I got this online for under $10. GREAT value for the money. I thought the featurette was one of the most informative I've seen in a long time. For fans of historical epics, a great bargain!
I just bought a used JVC XV-D701 from a friend at work for $100. Did I get a good deal? I also need to know if I need to get a firmware upgrade for this model. Any info would be appreciated. (I know I should have asked this question before I bought it, but it was a spur of the moment kind of...
The tape was definitely an S-VHS tape and S-VHS dub (I've known this source for years and trust him), our decks are definitely not S-VHS. The picture looked a hell of a lot better than any VHS I've seen, at least 3/4 quality. I'm seriously thinking about transfering these puppies to BetaSP and...
I work for a small TV network that shows a lot of public domain films. I had a gentleman bring me some P.D. movies on S-VHS. We don't have an S-VHS machine but he said our professional VHS players would work. I thought he was high but I tried it out. Well, he was right, and the films looked...

Your cover looks great. I've never seen this movie but have heard great things about it. I will admit, your cover does make me think twice about letting my 3 year old watch this film, which, from what I've read about it, is probably a good thing. Warner Brothers may be doing a disservice to...
Kubrick's Films definitely turned me on to classical music. In addition to those previously mentioned, add Barry Lyndon. A nice arrangement of Handel's Sarabande of suite no. 11 is the central theme (along with Bach and Mozart). And let's not forget Terence Maliks Days of Heaven with the...
I really like the idea of this thread. Unfortunately, most silent films have moved into the the public domain or have disentegrated. The studios don't have much to do with these films anymore. But if any great silents are still attached to the majors, I'd vote for a DVD!
