On Scooby-Doo BR I do see occasional DVNR destruction of lines and small detail. It's not a highly animated show so the effect is limited. Overall it looks okay, but not a stellar effort by WHV, especially for the price.
The Lippy glitch is just a fancy "transition" effect between the show opening and the title card on a single episode (so far). It doesn't really detract from anything. As the combination of intro and title card/episode may be a reconstruction, the transition effect looks like something that...
I don't expect much, but this is a defect pure and simple. As much as the set cost there should be a disc replacement program.
It's frustrating because things like this would no doubt impact the profitability of these releases and make them less and less likely because of how "demanding" the...
On the New Scooby Movies blu-ray set, the episode The Haunted Showboat with Josie and the Pussycats, in addition to sloppier than usual animation, has severe audio/lip sync issues, particularly early in the episode. Is this a defect of the disc, or was that just intrinsic to the episode itself?
That's about what it looks like. Somewhat soft overall, and some episodes very grainy and occasional dirt and minor film damage. Possible "remastered" but definitely not restored. Colors are decent. At least they don't look like dingy old worn out tape masters.
I don't know why anybody should expect to be paid for a days work more than 60 years ago. Copyright laws are insane. The rest of us have to get up and go to work every day and keep producing, so something like 20-25 years rights protection would seem more than fair to me.
Well I don't disagree. DD for example is probably a much better idea, among others. I hate WBShop, full price and expensive slow shipping privileges, and it's not really even part of WB anyway. I'm making more effort to avoid Amazon generally, but sometimes they just make it too easy, and I'm...
Maybe? I know WA has sometimes pressed an initial run of some of their releases before switching to MOD, and maybe they do pressed for all BD??? Not sure I've ever seen or heard of a BD-R from them, do they do that? Otherwise, at least for DVD, I thought Amazon could produce these and other...
What is it with Amazon all of a sudden? I thought they were getting most of this stuff pretty close to or right on release date, but now weeks or months after my pre-orders they finally let me know they can't deliver Jonny Quest or Popeye until sometime after July??? So I either have to wait...
The DVD set "The Lost Episodes" contains 8 of the 9 previously missing New Scooby-Doo Movies episodes. From an Amazon review they are:
1. A Good Medium is Rare – Phyllis Diller
2. Sandy Duncan’s Jekyll and Hyde – Sandy Duncan
3. The Secret of Shark Island – Sonny and Cher
4. The Haunted...
Yes, if it wasn't clear to anybody, the Blu-ray set is 2 BD-50 discs. Everything but special features is in 1080p HD. The special features are SD 480p content.
Skimming the past couple pages of remarks about the New Scooby-Doo Movies set. My copy (blu-ray) arrived a couple days of days ago and I've been watching it yesterday and today. The shows look great, image sharpness and color, audio clarity, I have no qualms about the quality. Releasing on...
IMO the original black border Hanna Barbera Golden/Classic Collection sets are preferable to the Diamond Collections, because of the extras and use of more discs. However, although I never had any real trouble with the occasional flipper discs in these sets, it is true that some of them exhibit...
WHV did release a bit more than season 1 of the Smurfs, although it was hardly ideal. After releasing season 1 in 2 volumes (and later in complete form as the Diamond Collection) they began to dribble out portions of season 2 on single disc kiddie rack DVDs. They had the following confusing...
Just got my copy of Valley of the Dinosaurs and noticed something interesting. The discs are dual-layer. May not be anything new, but this is the first I've ever seen this from the archive. They fit the full series of 16 episodes onto 2 discs instead of 4. The Space Kidettes/Young Samson set...
