The 10 50 coupon did not scan yesterday for me, I printed it Thursday, but the guy typed it in. Looking at my receipt after, he had typed in 10% rather than 10$, it was still better than 5 off 50, but I missed out on a few dollars, oh well.
A few to watch for out of stock are those films with English language titles that BN inexplicably lists under original language, like phantom carriage, chronicle of a summer, miss Julie or the stories of floating weeds set, I've seen these stay out of stock for multiple consecutive sales and...
Picked up the player, fantastic planet, and Tokyo story yesterday. Fantastic planet is a total trip, only 72 minutes so I already watched it, leisurely paced, and surprisingly a thoughtful and adult piece of science fiction and animation. Not great, it's a really good film but it is one of...
Someone on another forum did the math and if you're a member the 24% off only saves about a dollar per title versus using the five off fifty coupon and making many in store trips.
If you're thinking about zatoichi, you may want to use the black Friday coupon on that if your store has a copy. remember that word has suggested the print run is expired and it may soon be unavailable once current stock is sold until criterion repackages and reprints it, which could take years...
Limelight was the last film from the July sale I watched. On sunday, so I could say I'd watched everything I'd bought before and not incur any wife wrath this sale. A very near masterpiece and surprisingly self critical, it's just a little bit heavy in the middle but still a terrific film.
I...
Oh that's fantastic news, I went back a page or two and saw the news about LM and assumed the coupons were done while he took much deserved time from the thread. I'd have never found them buried back further in the thread.
I got the varda eclipse in the sale on criterions site and it is hands down the best looking eclipse set they've ever done. All the films have had 2k restorations and new harvests of said and they look freaking stunning.
sale starting next week, anyone want to chime in with their best purchases from the last sale?
Also, I believe there is word kicking around that the print run of the big zatoichi set is finished, so you may want to get it this sale if you find it in store. The online stock will probably sell...
Indeed, I think there's a b2g1 sale in January as well. This is not a great bargain for catalog titles or in store, but online usually discounts new criterion releases a standard 30%, that means you can get three new releases online for about $54. Slightly better than 50% off.
Speedy doesn't come out until Dec 8th
I'll definitely use one 20% off coupon on the duvivier set, not sure what else I'll use the other coupon on since apu comes out after.
I posted this in the other thread, but it belongs more here.
Post your best purchases from the last sale in the categories bluray, dvd, eclipse/box set and upgrade as recommendations for the upcoming sale, just one per category, please!
Best purchase from the last sale :

Btw, the best thing I bought last year was the les blank boxset. It's a collection of half hour docs on good food, old people, odd people and or old music. Some of the films are really spectacular. If you're looking for a last minute purchase, you can't go wrong.
Round three was an error Morris documentary run
Thin blue line
Gates of heaven
Brief history of time
And round four continued the doc theme with
Hoop dreams
Burdens of dreams
Harlan county usa
I also finally picked up shoah since there was no new box set to entice me.
I think the sale starts tonight online and tomorrow in store.
Everyone should buy marketa lazarova. It's a completely bonkers Tarantino esque or game of thrones esque phantasia of medieval Czech folklore.
You can combine those 15 an 20 coupons with the 50 sale as well. Also there's about three hundred criterion titles that are DVD only, and I usually pick up a couple of those, and you can't use the 40 off bluray sale for those.
I usually pick up three 39.99 titles in store, which is $60 for the...

I hope BN makes it, I feel like they're almost over the hump of surviving. I find the store more convenient than ever, the addition of a toys and games section makes the store all the more useful. Books, music, movies, and toys. I can get a huge chunk of all my gift buying throughout the year...
Also, I should note that Criterion has indicated various places this year that a big reason they upgrade titles to bluray is a print run selling out. So if you have a personal favorite you've been waiting on buying in the hopes they'll upgrade it to bluray, now is the time to prod Criterion in...
while I don't get any email coupons from BN at any of the three addresses I've signed up with (one of which is my member address), I did get two twenty percent off coupons in the mail last weekend. I took one in Tuesday morning and promptly got the Cassavetes bluray set 125 -> 62.5 -> 56.25 ->...
