Also of note, yesterday in trimming the roster, the Patriots waived both Bailey Zappe and Malik Cunningham, leaving Mac Jones the only QB on the 53 man roster. I guess Zappe cleared waivers and was re-signed to the Pats practice squad (edit: Cunningham, too, reportedly), but it seems odd they'd...
New rule places any fair catch inside the 25 YL at the 25YL:
I keep hearing about this "injuries on kickoffs", but don't recall the last time I ever saw anyone injured during a kickoff. Most injuries seem to happen in the scrum at the line of scrimmage or by a helmet-leading hit.
I don't really see it as that different from anything shown on NFL Network (which I don't have), but it's equally annoying.
I'm a little surprised that NFL is allowing NBC to run games exclusively on Peacock. I thought NFL's "streaming partner" was Amazon Prime? Seems like Amazon would want an...
The TV schedulers seem to think the Packers will be a TV draw:
In addition, the Packers are in front of a national audience on Thanksgiving at Detroit.
Interesting. Since they share the stadium with the Jets, that would mean the Jets are on the road for most of the second half.
I think I'd rather have the Giants schedule, home for most of the stretch run.
Lamar Jackson also bombed the Wonderlic test (I think they use something different now). He scored a 13, while the player average is 20 with QB's usually a bit higher.
Didn't seem to hurt him much. I've never understood how any standardized test can really be useful when determining football...
It will be interesting to see if it was a waning interest in football, or just waning interest in playing in GB. Could be that the move will rejuvenate him (as long as things go well). If they start off with a losing streak, and the fans start booing and the NY media starts ripping him, he could...
I would let them sit at home, making nothing. There are too many variables involved in wasting $50 million a year on a single player.
And Hurts is not "elite" (yet), so they're not even reserving these amounts for the "elite" level.
Yes, these QB's with the Scrooge McDuck dollar sign eyes need to realize they are not the whole team. It will show the divide between who is interested in actually winning as a team, and those who only care about their personal net worth. You don't win rings like Tom Brady when you're sucking...
Wonder if that's an enticement to try and keep Jackson in the lineup under the franchise tag rather than him sitting out. "We got you a big name receiver. Don't you wanna play?"

The Carr deal supposedly has $60 million fully guaranteed through the first two years. That's a ton of guaranteed money for a mid-level QB.
Not sure what Smith's guarantee is (EDIT: reported is $40 million guaranteed), but they report he can earn up to $52 million in the first calendar year. By...
Which is what happens most of the time. As soon as they hit big money, they start to regress (and not just QBs). I think that's part of the push for "fully guaranteed" money rather than performance-based steps/bonuses. They want to get their money regardless of how they decide to perform.
The bigger question, IMO, is not so much why are they asking, but why are teams paying? It just baffles me that teams are willing to pay guys like Jones, Smith, and Carr when they can likely achieve similar results with any random current backup QB that would be a whole lot cheaper.
These guys...
Stay strong NFL. We don't need that yutz back on the field.
Must be with inflation he's finding it hard to keep his 27 kids in food and clothes.
In other news, Geno Smith is now also making $35 million/year (3 yrs/$105 million with Seahawks).
If Smith and Carr can get these numbers, it makes...
Derek Carr is supposedly close to a deal with the Saints.
Of course, this is being reported on the same web site that said about 12 hours ago that Carr was "leaning toward the Jets", so who knows.
I would not pay Jackson anywhere near what he wants. Seems like he's constantly injured or "sick" in the latter part of the season. Let him sit out and watch $32 million go down the tubes, if he wants, while the rest of the league moves on.
Yes, Jones is delusional. I don't know in what universe he thinks he played well enough and has enough skills to demand that amount. The franchise tag amount will be way more than he's worth.
PFT has a story that highest odds are that Rodgers goes to the Raiders (with Jets and Panthers as...
I wouldn't pay, and probably wouldn't miss it that much. Gameday has become such a bloated mess to the point where the game itself seems almost an afterthought to everything else they want to cram in.
