A list of 70s /80s films from the main list that also do not seem to have dvd homes:
IN THE SHADOW OF KILIMANJARO
3;15: THE MOMENT OF TRUTH
THE BEAR
THE JIGSAW MAN
TO BEGIN AGAIN (possibly the only Best Foreign Film Oscar winner not on video)
ANGELO MY LOVE
MELANIE
THE CONCRETE JUNGLE
DONT CRY...
PSO used to run full page and multi page full color stock ads of their films in the special book like issues of Variety.
others I remember were FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR, NOMADS and PRIZZIS HONOR.
Disney seems to have held on to NAVIGATORs rights while MGM contols NOMADS through Atlantic and...
While updating this list (finally able to scratch MEGAFORCE!), there are still many titles in these 15 years id love to see.
With WB announcing its Paramount deal and Shout!eleasing genre and none genre Universals and the great Olive (also Para) and Criterion (almost all major studios) as well...
Youtube has become another souurce for obsolete flix...if you can deal with the 10 minte each parts (which I kinda like-you feel like you are controlling it). I caught many tv movies that have never made it to video. Pretty cool.
I've only downloaded Lionsgate's Movie,
Movie from Amazon. It...
I just might pick that up! I recently bought a region free bluray player -was tired of collection non region one dvds thinking they would eventually come to r1 (i know-im thinking in the box-but the fact that i bought them means otherwise).
I'm assuming, like our bluray players it will play...
I have CaboBlanco on an off brand label-it came double featured with Lola. Its not as bad as you think it could be. Avco Embassy released this on the coat tails of what everyone thought would be a big hit -Death Hunt(it flopped) in May 1981.
The more I look at the morsels of films not yet in DVD from that period...I think its more a financial decision. None of them were boxoffice hits...nor probably did well on video. As the economy has dwindled studios...and I cont blame them....see nonprofit margin in any of these.
Other...
I think you may be right...this may never be released here. The other PSO releases....HEAVENLY BODIES and MISUNDERSTOOD were MGM theatricals but haven't reached MOD yet....unless they aren't controlled by MGM now.
SHORT CIRCUIT seems to be the one PSO produced film that has been in constant...
Whether we are fond of Voights choices of late-we cannot dismiss his body of work in general. Even his bad performances are fun -Anaconda anyone? But, he is gettiung a bad rap while his contemporaries have all been in atrocious films of late- Al
Pacino in 88 Minutes , Jack and Jill. Robert...
Conrack is Angelina Jolie's favorite movie of her fathers -as she has stated. Besides that plug-this movie stands up among the great teacher movies of all time.
An interesting subgenre-the teacher film-has garnered actors/actreses many Oscare noms and wins- Robert Donat for Goodbye Mr. Chips...
for some reason I thought The Competition was part of the pack with It's My Turn, Only When I Laugh, Chapter Two. I just saw this on Sony Channel...I liked it alot.
I do appreciate the input. I can start putting asteriks next to films released in other regions .
I wasnt aware of those being released. The Salzburg Connection is very underrated, and beautifully shot. I do not know if this is part of Shout! Fox package.
I also am fond of The 39 Steps...
Theres no question. And as the proud owner of many offshore discs-I do not think its the norm. The heading should read not on dvd in u.s. I do see your point.
I've added CHALLENGE and deleted SQUEEZE.
LIPS/EYES is an MGM MOD as well as CRACKERS on Universal
As to THOSE LIPS, THOSE EYES being right up my alley, i'd say your trying to CHALLENGE me to SQUEEZE out that i like this movie. I'd say -your CRACKERS! (all puns intended!)
Thought I'd update whats not yet released on DVD . The list has dwindled considerably with the dawn of MOD's. I will strike off from the list as they become available and add any i've overlooked. 1985/86: Eleni (R4) , Doin' Time , Mr. Love, UFOria , James Joyce's Women , Wild Geese 2 , Bad...
