Do you think it could be an issue with the way the DVR is hooked up to the TV? I had the same problem once after I hooked up my DVR to my TV with the HDMI cable instead of the red white, and yellow cables. I couldn't get subtitles. I had to adjust my settings in my DVR. Just a guess?

Well said! That's how I remember it, too. The episode that comes to mind is the John Wayne one, where she spent the whole episode planning to give him a piece of her mind over his conservative views, and then when he shows up, she melts in his presence like a giddy, love-struck school girl.
