I think you misunderstood what I meant.
Good Times started off as a show about the struggles of an inner city black family and all too quickly it became all about the buffoonish behavior of J.J. and 'dyn-o-mite.' Yes, there were some very good and meaningful episodes throughout the entire run...
Well, I finished the series last night. There were a few things that I noticed this time around that I didn't seem to pay much attention to the first time. It seems very odd that Maude and Walter didn't have a goodbye scene with Carol and Phillip but they did with Arthur and Vivian. And Victoria...
I'm just about to finish the entire series and each episode has clocked in at 24-25 minutes. There doesn't seem to be anything missing. There is a lot of music in this series. Aside from the three music heavy episodes, just about every other episode has someone singing a bit of a song, reciting...
MeTV just showed this Thursday night and I taped it. So, after I converted it and saved it to my computer for a future DVD, I uploaded the full sketch to YouTube. Here it is:

I have discovered a small error with the set.
On the episode listing on the back of the Seasons 1 and 2 case there is a typo. The episode Florida's Goodbye has an air date of 2/5/197. It's missing the 4.
Looks like the proof reader missed that one.
It's a real shame that we can't get a Good Times box set that would match the All In The Family, Maude, The Jeffersons and Mary Hartman sets. Putting the four sets together, they really look great on the shelf.
Hopefully if Shout gets One Day At A Time and Archie Bunker's Place, the sets look...
What I meant by balanced and fair was that it didn't become a shouting match like so many issues on All In The Family did and as Maude did on many occasions. They kept the tone more balanced and fare. I didn't word that too well. Sorry.
I tend to agree, but it just seemed like the subject was talked 'around' in stead of 'about'. It should have stayed a character driven episode (as it did), but I feel that the characters should have said just a bit more on the subject. Especially Maude and Walter since they were the ones...
I haven't watched any of the new set, but when season 1 came out eons ago, I remember being disappointed in the Maude's Dilemma episode. For all of the controversy sounding the episode, I felt very let down. The big let down for me was in the handling of the whole abortion question itself. I...
Ok, I did some more spot checking and here are the results.
Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree is there in Tax Audit.
I Am Woman is there in Maude's Big Decision.
The Girl From Ipanema is there in Vivian's First Funeral.
I'm gonna guess that since there is no music disclaimer on the...
Well, I looked all over the set itself and no where did I see the 'some music may have been edited for this home video release' disclaimer. So, I'm taking that as a good sign.
Got my set today. I haven't dug into it yet because I'm in the middle of another complete series set but I hope to get to it soon.
If anyone does check it out, please let us know about any music edits or replacements. I know that there are a couple of episodes that are music heavy and it would...
I gotta say, Shout has been doing a great job with these complete sets of the Lear shows. While I wasn't that interested in having the complete set for The Jeffersons or double dipping for the complete set for All In The Family, I got a couple of good deals so I went for it. Great extras on each...
