thanks for the info..hmmm..which means I'll never see it..lol..Why couldn't it be WB or Fox..:frowning:. Three of my favorites with Mr. Kennedy are : The Lusty Men Day of the Evil Gun Bend of the River
Does anyone know who owns "Bright Victory" 1951 with Arthur Kennedy..I've seen this on TCM a few times the latest a few days ago and it's a movie that I really love..very well done and touches on a couple subjects not often looked at back then. Kennedy was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar, and...
I 'm with the members who mentioned maybe a Ray Milland box set..he is certainly deserving. I'm not sure who owns what, but I would like to see a set with films that haven't been released yet both well known and a few lesser known titles. Favorite Milland films not out are: 1. The Uninvited...
I'm not a huge Trek fan, well, not enough to buy season sets, but I do love time travel episodes. I would have pulled the trigger on this but "The Visitor" isn't in it. I know it's borderline time travel, but it did have Sisko bouncing into other times. It's one of Deep Space's best...
Well, out of what's been announced so far.. truly excited about "Grand Prix", "Naked Spur", "Lady in the Lake", "Sergeant York", and "Baby Face". I really want to know if "On Dangerous Ground" will be released as one of the noir titles this year..if not I'll pull the trigger on a other region...
Holy Crap!!..Thank God It's Friday was a Oscar winner for best song "Last Dance"..now I can have this in my collection and if anyone says anything..say ..hey it's an Oscar winner!!..lol
People would vote anyways..that's how people are they like to get their two cents in even if they know it's coming. I'm not buying it, people are getting around the one vote limit.
Ok..I give up..if they go by the top 10 list as it is now that's a joke..those are the top 10 classic films not released on DVD?..Some serious stuffing going on, I hope the studios don't take it to serious, it was a good idea that unfortunatley was once again ruined by people who can't play fair.
You can't vote more then once, it won't let you. I accidently(no, really) did it and it said I already voted. Please vote for the Films of Ronald Colman..especially Prisoner of Zenda, The Masquerader, and A Tale of Two Cities.
I'm going to pick this up but besides the high store price(buying it online anyways), you have to remember it was released 2 days after Christmas..I don't know about you guys but it takes me about a month or so to recover from Christmas expenses.. allot of people just don't have the cash right...
I'm sitting it out, not so much that I'm waiting to see anything..but because towards the end of the year I realized I'm tired of having hundreds of dust collector's on my shelf. I'm in the process of selling off all the dead weight. Being a mostly classic film fan these new formats do...
Well it is listed on Amazon for the 2/7 date..from Focus..and listed at $6.99..ditto on the don't get excited comment..bummer I would have liked a remastered The Stranger...looks like I'll stick with the Killer Classics version.
Agree..why on earth isn't the oh .. almost 250 classic(30's-50's) titles on my want list not out..all I would buy without a second thought. I would even take so-so crappy prints like Alphas then nothing at all.
This was a good film for what it is, I really like Diane Lane and John Cusack so as it usually goes with me if I like the actors I tend to be more forgiving. These two are just fun to watch. There are some lame scenes that arn't very realistic, but if you have ever done any online dating some...
So very true!!!..feel the same way. One thing I love about older movies is the heavier use of dialogue in general, so name tags or not..anything is better then what we have now with some exceptions of course but over all in film today..heaven forbid people have an attention span of more then two...
Well at least their not full screen..I wasn't expecting to much these arn't exactly classics. For my 27" and 32" and simple set up I'm sure these will be fine.
As for the higher prices thing above..being a collector of mostly older classic films I would pay the higher price if it ment getting titles that might not come out otherwise. I mean it's not like stuff that just came out in the theater, these older titles need to be restored/cleaned up somewhat...
I would like to see more comedies..but not by any one specific actor or actress. With the studios concentrating so much on the darker Noir titles I'm afraid that many comedies or romantic comedies of the 30's and 40's will never make it out. So along with the Noir line I would like to see a...
With signs that Wings an Pinky and the Brain are coming out and Nowhere Man on the way..I only have a few left that are no doubt buys for me if they come out and they are: Brisco County Jr. Midnight Caller Hawaii Five-O Amazing Stories Friday the 13th : The Series
They care about quality the same as they did when Beta and VHS were the choices.. or Laserdisc and VHS.. regular DVD will still be here a long, long time..people don't like change, this forum isn't a real view of the big picture.
I stare allot..then stare some more..then go do something else because I get hungry/internet or whatever..then come back to it..then look at the clock and realize if I start this now I'll never get it all in..so end up picking a short movie..long movies get the shaft with me, hard to find the...
