    Sony’s new deal with SDS

That sounds similar to what Sony did, I think, on some tv-on-dvd releases. They rip ok but when they playback there is a lot of shuffling between episodes of a tv show. It makes it difficult sometimes on certain players. Thanks for that explanation!

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

I didn't know all that. So when they initially released The Golden Girls from 2004 and 2005, they seemed more lenient about the protection and installed further for releases going forward. I never tried ripping Season 7 so I may have to try that to see how much trouble I encounter. I don't have...

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

Do we know if all releases of The Golden Girls have that extra basketbase drm? Initially the sets were in cardboard digipack cases. Then they were re-released in regular clear amaray cases. And I believe there was at least 1 complete series set. Just wondering if all releases are the same...just...

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

I agree it would need an reauthoring. Warner did do that for their flipper-discs when they switched to single-sided discs. Both DALLAS and THE DUKES OF HAZZARD had double-sided discs for their earlier seasons (they were used almost entirely for DALLAS except for the final season and the TV...

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

Warner also did that with the first 13 seasons of DALLAS in their original sets. The single-sided re-release of those seasons was very limited as they went out of stock very fast. I believe Universal also did that with at least the first few seasons of MURDER SHE WROTE before re-releasing them...

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

That would open up a whole lot of possibilities. VEI is one of the only players left in the TV-on-DVD section of physical media.

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

I was thinking the same but I'd love to know who currently holds the license to some of these shows or if they have run out. SDS releasing some more "complete series" sets would be a wonderful thing to see.

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

I wonder if the spin-off Sanford could be released. If Shout still maintains their license for AITF, would that include Archie Bunker's Place, I wonder. I would LOVE to see Remington Steel re-released! I backed up all the episodes because those flipper discs are prone to stop working over...

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

That’s another series I would love to see released! I would definitely buy that. Also just thought of another…Archie Bunker’s Place (which only ever received a first season release).

    Sony’s new deal with SDS

From the recent news that Sony has inked a deal with SDS, I’m wondering if they will release a few tv-on-dvd “complete series” sets for Sony properties. They have done this with Warner TV titles that sold very well. One in particular, Mayberry RFD, had never received a release past Season 1...
