I faxed over the 3d rendering to a metal shop in the area and am waiting to hear if the whole thing could be bent out of a single piece of aluminum (rather than welding it) and they will also give me a price quote. That will be, by far, the most expensive part.
So, I got to thinking, I like several of the Sconces I have seen available but I can't justify spending $100 to $150 a light, so I decided I would design my own. Imagine that a bit more refined and done in brushed aluminum, similar to this quick design: I have some hookups in...
Would you do $15 shipped for these three? Bone Collector Daddy Day Care Top Gun email me joshm AT omnitechnica.com if that is acceptable and let me know where to paypal.
I am debating whether or not to release it to the public. If I did I would probably charge something for it, simply to recoup some of my time, however I would also need beta testers :D I am considering packaging the whole thing up, computer, touchscreen, IR transmitter, etc. Would you be...
You guys may have seen that I use a DVD mega-changer to store my DVDs. As you can imagine managing the location of 400 DVDs can be a real challenge, so I decided to do something a bit fun. I wrote a custom piece of software that catalogs my movies and also controls the DVD changer. You can...
Thanks for your comments guys... I will definetely be painting those seats... that is next on my list. Also, I am unfortunately stuck with the seats where they are because of the way that I chose to mount the projector... the projector is actually in the riser. It had a much better WAF...
You may have remembered when I posted my "finished" theater a couple of months ago and one of the biggest suggestions was to ditch the wallpaper... well, I have just finished... wnat what a project it was: 1) Took off SIX layers of wallpaper each with a layer of spackle on it 2) Put Mud on...
Well, I got all of the wallpaper steamed off the walls, and on sunday I do some wall repair and then next week I can begin the painting process... I picked out a very dark burgundy which I think will look very cool against the lighter colored paneling on the buttom of the walls.
The risers were actually built quite some time ago and are 3/4" MDF with 2x6 reinforced support beams. The box on the end is actually part of the last riser section, which was done in an L Shape. These were originally constructed for another purpose and were re-tasked to this one, and the...
The floor positioning was done for 2 purposes: 1) My last theater had a ceiling mount and it was a pain in the ass because it kept shifting when people walked on the floor above, so I was always repositioning it. 2) The Wife. She didn't want the ugly thing hanging from the ceiling, so...
Finished is in quotes because I already have changes brewing (such as getting rid of the wallpaper and painting it a dark burgundy) :D Anyway, you can see the pictures in my gallery here: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/gall...=TheJohnnyFive For Equipment: Infocus X1 DaLite 110"...
I have been quite happy with the Component cables that I have from them. They seem to be very well built and their video quality is just as good as any other cables I have ever tried. I ordered their "Premium" cables, which were a bit more, but I figured that they already cheap enough, I...
It's not unheard of for SVS to ship out a replacement amp for the sub so that you don't have to ship the whole thing back in for service. Get back in touch with them... they will treat you right.
I second the Fluance recommendation... specifically this set: {SX-HTB... unfortunately I don't have 15 posts yet, so i can't post a direct link). I just recently go this set, and every single person (including myself) that listens to them is blown away by their clarity and fullness of sound...
I just picked one of these up at Circuit City for 350 and I do not regret the purchase at all... even with the lower prices available. The sub fills the giant room (about 40'x40') quite nicely and adds just the right amount of bass. My only complaint is that there isn't a variable phase...
Last years Sony 300 disc changer had a +1 slot... but this years 400 disc (which I own) does not. Inserting and removing discs really isn't that big of a deal... relatively easy and only a bit slower than a single disc changer.
I am looking at buying a new speaker setup in the next month or so, and will have about 2k to spend. I am looking for fronts, surrounds, center, and sub. Currently I am looking at the Axiom Epic 60 set (you can find it at axiom's website, I would link it, but I am not allowed to post links in...
Just an FYI... with the Sony changers at least, you can daisy chain more than one changer together so if you outgrow it you can just purchase another one and hook the two together. I am not in a space premium, I am just tired of people "borrowing" discs from me and then I never see them...
He was just throwing around a simple idea, no reason to make such a negative post. I use one of these "crummy entry-level poor black level" projectors and absolutely love it... It was quite the upgrade to my older projector, and I don't take kindly to someone telling me that something I just...
I actually just recently purchased one of these mega changers, and to combat all of the problems that were listed in this thread (minus theft) I did the following project: (apparently I can't even post links to another thread here, so I will just copy and paste)
This project solved the...
I thought some of you guys might like what my latest project for my budding home theater was. I recently purchased the new Sony 400 disc DVD changer, and my biggest complaint was that choosing a new dvd could take a looooong time because scrolling through their on-screen menu is hideously slow...
Updated with pending purchased, or purchased on 11/23 @ 6:54p PST So, I have an extensive list of DVDs that I would like to buy, but don't really want to pay full retail for. If you have one of the DVDs on this list, let me know and how much you would want for it, shipping to 98117 included...
