"The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" - much was shot and then cut including two Dolly Parton songs. The scenes were closer to the Broadway version and made the film a bit more serious. But being from Universal this will never happen.
Some of Audrey's rehearsal vocals do sound better than what was released on the DVD esp "Loverly".
Audrey filmed "Loverly" to her own track - so there was a master track used for this song. It may be lost or it may still exist.
Marni Nixon also says that Audrey filmed more of the score with...
I attended the 70MM screening of the film at the Billy Wilder theater in LA last month. The print was beautiful - it didn't have the blown out whites of the blu-ray and the sky was blue. Some of you should have gone - it was quite an experience and you would know what you're missing
Now...
When dubbing is done right the audience should be unaware it's not the actors voice. The singer doesn't have to have a pretty voice but must be able to fool the audience. Mark Lester's voice was dubbed in "Oliver" as was Peter O'Toole in "Man of La Mancha" and the audience thought they were...
It can be done, and you did it for the laserdisc and that was before digital editing.much has advanced since then. I've made poor singers sound fine in the recording studio after they left for the day. Audrey can not hit every high note but some more of her voice could be used as an alternate...
Have you heard the raw tracks? The vocals on the laser disc/DVD/Blu-ray weren't true. They were edited to match her mouth and she sounds awful. "Show Me" was a real problem. Her raw tracks to "Loverly" are lovely and she is fine with much of "I Could Have Danced All Night" and " Without You"...
I work in the recording industry and we are able to fix a singer voice. It's not just pitch that can be fixed with Auto Tune. There are other ways - fixing the lenght of notes and the tonal quality. A lot of Hepburn's singing is fine. The higher notes would require work and maybe some dubbing...
I hope someone can restore Audrey Hepburn's singing voice. The laserdisc gave you the option to hear the film with Audrey singing or Marni Nixon.
Many of Audrey's vocals can be heard on the web and with some digital help from Auto Tune she would sound fine. Audrey's voice was charming, though...
You can’t even have an adult discussion on this forum. Few have pointed out some concerns and they may or may not be legitimate, but instead of trying to address reasons for those concerns some on this forum have regressed back to elementary school playground level of name calling and I’m right...
Pay no attention? what kind of an attitude is that? Remember when FOX screwed up "Patton"? they fixed it later on, many said it was a great transfer originally
than changed their minds
Some people will buy anything regardless of quality
The more i watch it the more I can see something is off, don't know if it's the contrast or the fact the whiter colors are too bright in relation to all else. Plus the color seems to have a bluish tint (very slight) not the way it was in the theater
left side of his collar off from rest of...
The transfer seems to have a little bit too much contrast which appears to make some scenes look washed out in lighter colors. you can even see it in some of the screen shots over at blu-ray.com
on the DVD there is detail in the lace which appears grayer, and her face is flesh colored, here it...
I'm generally pleased with the disc, but I also think the contrast is a little too bright in some shots for my taste - just a slight bit. Sometimes skin tones appear too white. Of course the color is still there and the skies are blue when they're not cloudy. The detail and color is much...

Well, to be fair to the poster's comments on the sky not being blue - much of the film was shot in overcast weather and the sky was never blue (even on the DVD and in production stills) this is especially true of the Garrison New York location footage (and much has been written about the rain...
Looks pretty good. Not quite 70Mm but the best the film has ever looked on Video. The image is much better than the screen shots posted above.
The Gene Kelly feature was also pretty good but way too short. The other feature looks remarkably good 45 years later
Comes very Close to matching the...
I wonder if FOX fixed this transfer and said nothing about it (as they sometimes do)?
Color, speckles and flickering weren't really the problem - it was obvious a low defination transfer was used (some said they used the laserdisc master) and so the sharpness and clarity were missing
Catalog sales have proven to be low (Twilight Time only presses 3,000 units and has yet to sell out - with the exception of a few horror fantasty titles) If a catalog title sells unless than 3,000 over two years and cost a lot more to remaster and clean up for blu-rays higher standards, we are...
It would be great if Warner followed Twilight Time's model where 3,000 or so disc are pressed and sold without going to Best Buy etc. Press discs seems to last better than MOD
I was referring to Blu-rays. WB does release more than other studios, but they may so much more A titles to release, many which may never be released on Blu
WB can't just slap a title on Blu-ray without some work (like some of the Archieve DVD titles which get little in the form of...
