Also, Unobstructed View in the Great White North are doing 40% off the CDN retail. Pretty good considering the exchange and nightmare shipping out of the US.
Nothing for me this sale. Between exchange rates, shipping/customs and what not I can't justify ordering anything from the states anymore. hoping Unobstructed View does a matching sale in Canada.
just got my order in, no issues with the site.
Dietrich set
Female Trouble
Age of Innocence
Virgin Suicides
Dead Man
King of Jazz
Women In Love
Passion of Joan of Arc.
A lot of money, but cheaper than buying from a Canadian site even with exchange.
Criterion have a couple of flash sales on their site between the B&N ones. Seeing how the coupons didn't pan out I'd wait for one of them. You may pay a little more shipping, but they see more of your dollar spent when you buy direct which helps them out more at the end of the day.
I only...
Still no word on codes for online use us poor Canadians can glom onto? I only want three titles, due to going hard on the Criterion 50% off flash sale.
Plan to get "Punch Drunk Love", "One Eyed Jacks" and "Pan's Labyrinth." I was able to sneak in onto that Lone Wolf & Cub glitch on amazon, so...
Thanks for the heads up! It worked on my 5 items coming to Canada. Pretty much covered the shipping. I take a hit on the exchange, but it's still cheaper than buying from amazon.ca. Saved about a $100 compared to Canadian pricing.
Thanks again for the update. I'm going to wait for the 20% off one on July 7th, though they never seem to work for Canadians. I might end up not getting anything this go round... :S
Dang! forgot all about that one! Recently was introduced to Nikkatsu Noir via Arrow's release of MASSACRE GUN and REDEMPTION. I'll have to pick up that set on the next sale since our dollar it to poor to justify a second order this round.
(Off topic, but Arrow's STRAY CAT ROCK, also from...
Canadian dollar is still pants so the savings are pretty much negligible for me with the shipping added in (about $10 on four titles). I think I'm skipping this one and see what happens in November. :S
From their twitter, not as fun as a fake conspiracy that they are trying to rip off potential customers:
Criterion Collection @Criterion 10m10 minutes ago
http://criterion.com/sale is back online! Apologies for the delay—there was an outage at our payment processor.
I don't hope them ill will, and it's great that their actual stores are all right to physically go to, but their online presence is going to kill them.Out of my order placed on Nov 5th, I've so far received 2 titlesUp All Night, in stock at time of order, shipped nov 7, arrived Dec 2Fiend...
Got my order in!
Zatoichi
Tokyo Story
I Married a Witch
Eyes Without A Face
City Lights
Up All Night with Robert Downy Sr.
Hoping they arrive before Christmas break, I'd love to tuck into Zatoichi when I'm off work.
Zaitochi and I'm sure some others will be mine!
I grabbed some during the Criterion flash sale though, so it will be light for me compared to last time.
I don't know for sure, but I expect it to cover the Zatoichi set. In the past the sale covered titles that came out the week after the sale date, so it should fall in line. fingers crossed anyway.
I'm still waiting for my first batch of titles to arrive. Getting close to 20 days now. As much as I love these B&N sales, the shipping is ridiculous. They might be lost for all I know. I might just skip them in the future and do the 50% flash sales that Criterion themselves sometimes host. At...
I have no idea, but if you can't pre-buy, I would go for that deal and if they charge you more at pick up, tell them to skip it. You should have some kind of confirmation with the $20 price right? They should honor it.
I've been slowly going through the Keaton set, and it's pretty good stuff.
I'm at the point in the B&N sale where annoyance sets in. I always forget how shit their shipping is, especially to Canada. Still no sign on my initial order that is coming in 2 shipments despite showing as being in...
Jumped on again and grabbed a second bunch of films since they moved up Devils Backbone. So my total for this sale is:
Shoah
Safety Last
Things To Come
Lord of the Flies
The Devils Backbone
Cronos
By Brakhage
I usually pick a risky title that I'm not sure about during these sales and this time...
I was pretty pleased with only getting Shoah, Things to Come and Safety Last on blu. With the extension and adding in of Devils Backbone, it looks like I'll be making a second purchase!
Ron, I watched Jubal a couple weeks ago and it's a great western. Amazing performances all around. the 3:10...
