Thanks Rémy! I did a quick search and on bluray.com, the review of the Rebel 4K disc speculates the 4K source that was used on the 2013 blu ray was used for the 2023 4k UHD. .
I just got the Warner 4K release of Rebel Without a Cause. I was pleasantly surprised it includes a blu ray and digital. I haven’t checked reviews, so I hope it’s blu ray is struck from the new master used for the 4K.
There was one special box set event that was dual format from Paramount and that was Star Trek The Motion Picture Directors Edition Complete Adventure box set.
That was a very special set, so they threw in the three cuts of the film in UHD and blu ray. Except the Special Longer TV cut didn’t...
Yeah, I’ve done that. At this point, if both films have a separate blu ray release, I’ll probably buy both the 4K and the standard blu ray.
I imagine some are wondering if I have 4K viewing capability, why also have the blu ray? I like to rip the movies with MakeMKV and it’s easy for me at this...
It would be great if the Paramount releases of To Catch a Thief and the Warner release of North by Northwest 4K UHD discs include a regular blu ray disc too. Though I know Paramount has not been including the blu ray with most of their UHD releases.
I think you are right that this 4K remastering effort is a quietly done correction acknowledging that the earlier disc has some issues they overlooked or were mis-directed, I was thinking the same thing.
I also think based on very little evidence, that this title is still a popular one. So the...
I’ve pre-ordered too. This is a favorite Hitchcock/Grant/Kelley film! I have every release of it!
Hopefully the first batch won’t have a glitch that requires a recall disc.
This is great news indeed and I’m very much looking forward to seeing this. But there will still be a slight doubt in the back of my mind as Paramount were so adamant that the 2020 release was done perfectly and it is how it was supposed to look. Plus Mars is supposed to be red in The War of the...
Hi Man-
Thanks for the info! I had not taken time yet to review the plan options for Paramount+. You are correct, I’m still on the basic plan with ads. I was fine to deal with ads as my P+ viewings were just the new Star Trek shows. So it’s good to know that I need to upgrade my plan in order...
Thanks Robert, so the 4K is an earlier version. But when I play it, it just shows as HD, not 4K. So unsure if my subscription is a barrier or something else. Maybe I’ll fiddle around with it later.
Thank you Man and Robert!
It is odd that when I selected To Catch a Thief on Paramount+, the page for it shows the specs of the video and it shows it is available in 4K. I believe you guys so I’m not disputing you, just trying to figure out Paramount+ shows this. It must be an earlier 4K...
I just found this thread! Well, I am surprised that this new 4K is coming so soon after the 2020 blu ray. I’ll be pre-ordering it too. As with all recent Paramount 4K discs, it’s unfortunate a blu ray disc is not included. I look forward to see how this looks.
I have a Paramount+ subscription...
