Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

(In a more general context). As much as I would like to see what "happened" in the universe of a show after went off the air (or in between seasons or episodes), I've found that this activity was a lot more tedious than I ever anticipated. The epitome of this for me was Star Trek, where I...

I liked Oxenberg's portrayal of Amanda as a sourpuss. ;) It seemed like Cellini's portrayal was like a very different person, even ignoring the change in Amanda's accent.

I was watching through some season 7 episodes over the past week or so. It seemed like the writers had no idea what to do with the Amanda Carrington character (played by Karen Cellini).

The picture quality on the region1 Dynasty seasons 6 to 9 dvd sets look like they might have been from an hd transfer. Subjectively to my eye, the picture quality of the region1 Dynasty seasons 6, 7, 8 and 9 dvds look better than the seasons 9 to 14 dvd sets of the original Dallas. (I'm...

Dynasty complete series set being released on October 10, 2017. (It hasn't shown up yet on amazon). http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Dynasty-The-Complete-Series/23493 The tvshowsondvd article ^ asserts it will be a 57 disc set, which suggests the 1991 Reunion movie might not be included. IIRC...

Hard to imagine anybody outshining Joan Collins in the role of Alexis. Offhand I can't think of any younger or middle-aged actresses who could portray a very convincing Alexis. Joan portraying Alexis was probably catching lightning in a bottle or the "perfect storm". :)

New HD transfers are currently being made for season 1. (If one believes what it says on the Dynasty page on the CBS syndication bible). Seasons 2 to 9 are already in HD resolution. The hd transfers appear to have been used for the american dvd releases of the season sets. (In contrast, the...

Heh. CBS is doing an new HD transfer for season 1. (Purportedly ready for this month). http://syndicationbible.cbstvd.com/series/dynasty/dynasty.htm (The CBS Syndication bible's page for Dynasty was last updated on March 28, 2017). If CBS/Paramount end up doing a complete series dvd set...

I've been watching season 8 over the past week or so. The Sean Rowan segments seem to resemble a mediocre James Bond movie. Almost like a long continuous episode of MacGyver.

Hmmm ...... The more I watch through Gossip Girl, the less optimistic I am about this Dynasty reboot. In and of itself, Gossip Girl isn't a bad show. It doesn't feel like Dynasty at all. Hopefully Schwartz/Savage don't end up making this Dynasty reboot into a "Gossip Girl: Denver" (or Gossip...

The Fallon/Cristal dynamic in the CW Dynasty preview, seems to be more like a Alexis/Sable dynamic in season 9 than the original Fallon/Krystle dynamic in the earlier seasons. In the sense of the new Fallon and Cristal wanting to be high-power corporate/business types.

(On a huge tangent). Today I picked up the final few seasons of Gossip Girl from a local dump bin. I previously had the first several seasons, but haven't watched them yet. After noticing the revived Dynasty is being handled by the producers Schwartz/Savage of Gossip Girl (and The OC), I...

If one files off the serial numbers (ie. remove the Dynasty brand name), this preview reminds me of one of those mexican or southamerican telenovelas but with the actors speaking in English. The CW has failed in reboots before, such as the revived Melrose Place which only lasted one season...

I was watching through some season 4 episodes earlier today, and noticed the Fallon character was already "softening up" and less snippety/sarcastic. It seemed like PSM's portrayal of Fallon in season 4 was becoming more like a "mother" than the spoiled brat of previous seasons.

Recently watched the docudrama telefilm Dynasty: The Making of a Guilty Pleasure. Overall it seemed rather mediocre. Most of the events covered in this telefilm, would be familiar to anyone who has read/watched enough stuff about the events that went on behind the scenes. (Easily found via...

In regard to Dynasty vs. Dallas, I've been finding Dallas gets more difficult to watch for me as the seasons go on. Whenever I do a rewatch of Dallas, I end up mostly watching the tail end of season 1 through to around the end of season 5 or so. After that, I find Dallas somewhat difficult...

Lately I've been watching season 6 a lot, and parts of season 7. I've been playing it in the background when I'm at home. Not the best seasons. The Moldavia segments seem like an unintentionally humorous version of The A-Team.

Got around to eventually finishing season 9. Speaking of season 2, over the decades I completely forgot about the revisited Roger Grimes storyline at the end of season 9, which was mentioned at the beginning of season 2 in Alexis' first appearance. By the time it was season 9 back in the day...

(Perhaps this shouldn't be too surprising). On my way home, I dropped by two different Walmart stores. It turned out neither one carried the recently re-released CBS/Paramount season 1 Dynasty dvd set. The bigger WM store carried the recently released Sabrina The Teenage Witch telefilm...

(This may sound really dumb). By the time I started buying a lot of dvds in 2011, I was already a bottom-feeder cheapskate scavenger. :) At that time circa 2012 -> 2013, I delayed buying further seasons of Dynasty largely because the previous older half-season sets were still around $15 a pop...

In terms of other dump bin Dynasty season sets, the only other ones I have come across with relatively high frequency, are the season 5 half-sets and the Fox season 1 flipper set. The individual Fox season 1 sets were most likely just Fox "washing their hands" of their old inventory which they...

Similar sentiments here too. :) Awhile ago I also came across a season 2 copy for $1 at a local dollar store. Though I ended up buying it as another silly $1 "impulse buy", even though I already had a copy of season 2. More generally, I suspect the primary reason why I have seen so many dump...

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

My guess is a seasons 1 to 4 Dynasty set released as a Walmart exclusive, might very well be a trial balloon to see how much interest there is. If enough copies are sold, then CBS/Paramount will probably give the green light to immediately release a complete series set, and maybe even the 1991...

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

For sure. In such a complete series set released in low-budget shelf-friendly packaging, most likely seasons 8 and 9 will be in a separate case holding all 12 discs. If the post-series 1991 movie The Reunion is released with (or before) the low-budget shelf-friendly complete series set, then...
