Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

This is exactly how "Oil" appears on the Fox set. Except that you had to flip the disc over to get to the third part which started with the cars driving into the estate. No recap, no opening credits. I saw "Oil" when it was first broadcast on ABC (It was actually shown twice. The first time was...

Yes, the Paramount reissue is on single sided discs.

It looks like the special features from the original Fox set carried over to this new set except the commentary with Esther Shapiro and Al Corley. The Fallon and Steven character profiles and the Family, Furs and Fun featurette are all there.

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

While we have not had a 100% verifiable conformation that the new release is on single sided discs, it's a very good assumption that it is. The original release had 2 episodes per side of each double sided disc. Therefore, there were 4 episodes a disc except the last disc which had 3 episodes...

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

Considering the reputation the show has, I seriously doubt it.

Ok, I've been looking into who actually owns Dynasty: The Reunion and I think I've finally got the definitive answer. In 1994, Blockbuster owned 67% of Spelling Entertainment. Blockbuster merged with Viacom who owned 11%, thus giving Viacom 78% of Spelling Entertainment. Before the merger with...

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that Dynasty: The Reunion might still be owned by Fox. If that is the case, then the chances of it ever being released on DVD is very, very slim. When parts of the Spelling library changed hands from Fox to CBS, it only covered things produced from a certain period...

Honestly, it wasn't who was or wasn't in the Reunion that could have made it better or worse, it was the writing. It was just bad writing.

I think it has to do with rights issues. Dynasty: The Reunion, I believe, is still owned by Fox. Since Fox, in all honesty, will probably not ever release it, then we would have to rely on a third party license to get it. In the past, Shout has had some issues with licensing Fox properties...

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

Considering the sluggish sales of the individual season sets of Dynasty, I doubt CBS/Paramount will ever release a complete series set.

I wouldn't hold my breath for Dynasty: The Reunion. It may still be tied up with Fox and if that is the case we will probably never see it released.

Well, I've finished The Colbys and I must say that I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1. In the bonus features interview with John James he said he was sorry to see the show cancelled. He felt that it was just coming into its own and season 3 would have been even better. I would have to agree...

I don't remember. I do remember that Alexis hired Mark as her body guard after one attempt on her life but that time it was Joseph.

Neil McVane...hmmm. I know he tried to frame her for the murder of Mark Jennings. I don't remember that he actually tried to kill Alexis. He certainly was unstable enough to have tried.

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

Ah yes, but as long as Alexis supported Steven it would continue to drive that wedge between Steven and Blake (not that Blake needed any help in that department) which did indeed serve Alexis' purposes. Plus it was something that Alexis could lord over Blake's head and she did so as often as...

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

Well, I've finished the first season and sadly, I see that the show has more than a few issues. At least for me. First, the theme. Try as I may I just don't like it. It's way, way too bombastic. The Dynasty theme, while big, has a much smoother melody. It doesn't blare at you like the Colbys...

It was Karen Cellini. At the start of season 7, Michael Culhane rescues Amanda from the La Mirage fire and they become romantically involved. Fallon comes to Denver to give Amanda advice on staying away from Michael. It is the one and only time that Amanda and Fallon are ever on screen together.

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

Yes. Fallon shows up in a season 7 episode with Amanda to warn her about Michael Culhane. It's a rather brief scene but it did happen.

Maybe I just got a poor printing. The low resolution pictures with the fuzzy looking white patches on several of them make them look cheap and homemade to me. Not what I usually expect from Shout.

I don't know. I don't have a flat screen TV so I have no way to check.

Yes, the plot summary for each episode is on the inside of the case. The back has a break down by disc for each episode and the original air dates. These are repeated inside along with the plot summaries. I watched the opening of the first episode and it does contain the original Dynasty II...

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

My copy of The Colbys arrived today. Haven't watched anything yet, but soon. One small complaint. The disc artwork looks rather cheaply done. Like a homemade job. Other than that, the set looks pretty good. The inner cases are packaged as Season 1 and Season 2 (six discs each). Just wanted...

Dynasty - The Official Thread for all things Carrington & Colby

Joan was only contracted for half of the season 9 episodes. This was a tactic forced by ABC to bring the cost per episode of the series down. The production cost of the series (including all of the high fashion costumes) had skyrocketed along with the salaries. Since the show was slipping in the...
