That's all in the prep work. As with any fine automobile or custom paint job...everything HAS to be sanded flat to have that surface to reflect. To do this we must prime and block, prime and block, prime and block, with consecutively finer grits. THEN we can finish with wet sanding, lay thin...
Guys, I have painted cars for many years, and It really depends, like anything, how much money and time you want to spend...You can do the "autobody" method with lacquer as well. Prime and block sand with incrementally finer grits to get that flat flat surface. Paint with lacquer, or urethane...
Hey Mike, Let me know how it goes...I have been itching to pull the trigger for a few months. I too have been pouring over page after page at AVS on the OPPO!!!
Warning!!! Never go into the Service Menu if you do not know what you are doing. You can ROYALLY screw up your picture and (I assume) your set. It has been widely discussed over on the AVS thread for the HLR series. Very informative... One great piece of advice is to take a photo of each screen...
As far as I've researched, the only Oppo with issues is the 971...because of the Faroudja (sp) processing. I have been eyeballing the 970, which uses a different chip, and is supposed to be better at de-interlacing.
Thanks john, I have been watching this player closely for a match to my MB-plagued Samsung DLP. I'm holding out for bugs to be resolved, and will probably order one up.
I have the 701...don't know what the "2" dnotes over the "1"...It has been a great player for 4+ years. Great progressive picture over my previous Philips 30" CRT... and quite nice on my new Samsung DLP. (I have noted some macroblocking issues, that I have almost eliminated through...
I don't know about the 971...but I have been examining the 970hd VERY closely lately, and it is supposed to be stellar on 480i output...Unsure over component. That may be hdmi only.
That's a great price for the Oppo Player..Does anyone know if it will help with the macroblocking on the Samsungs. Some say it is enhanced by the 971 with the Faroudja. I am looking for a good upconverting player. Edit: Waht major retailer will stock this?
I have the 46 in. HL-R series...(2005's model) I reasearched for a while, and I belived DLP to be better than LCD. This is subjective though, I think that the industry is leaning to LCD technology. I am very happy with my purchase.
I posted this in the "Sources" forum... How in the world is this company still in business? About 3 weeks ago I ordered an equalizer from them for a friend's birthday... I knew I was cutting the ship date close, but if it was a couple days late, it wouldn't be a big deal. (I knew my buddy...
well, the original post was about a specific source. and I can post a reply, but not the original issue? Also, I noticed about some other strange goings on in our little community.
huh? wheres my thread?? am I not allowed to post this?? How in the world is this company still in business? About 3 weeks ago I ordered an equalizer from them for a friend's birthday... I knew I was cutting the ship date close, but if it was a couple days late, it wouldn't be a big deal. (I...
Sean, I had finally brought my Sammy home last week, and, non- calibrated, Narnia produced quite a few of these funny-shaded areas as well. So much so that my wife even noticed in dusk scenes there were a number of colored "blocky" shadows on the children's faces. I also watched the first...
I will be paying special attention to this thread, because I will have this very same model in a few days. I think the "blockiness" issue is dithering and has been discussed before, which, if I recall, can be greatly diminished with calibration. Please keep me updated. Hopefully you will get a...
I think it was kind of a half-assed apology, kind of a "Well, I'm sorry if Matt felt I got under him, and moved him...But I didn't WRECK HIM!!"
I suppose you're right, I have only been following closely for the past couple years, I did, however, hear an interview about that fistfight. But...
That kinda made me laugh too... He walks up all rough and tough...ensured that he won't take a hit with his helmet and leathers on...only to apologize two minutes later. I wonder if he's trying to get in on this young hothead phenomenon that is sweeping NASCAR lately...hmmm...
"Bubba, The Love Sponge" Part of Howard's Radio Network. Similar vein of Talk show, based out of Tampa... Got booted off terrestrial radio I think. But he's kind of into Nascar, and talks to drivers and crews... And that wasn't the topic of the whole show...I was just curious what the...
Yeah, Zipandelli, or whatever... I listened to BUBBA on Sirius aon the way home from work on Monday, and they have some insider on Smoke's team...He said on the flight home from Vegas, Zip was so mad he wouldn't talk to anyone... couldn't even see straight.
Damn!!!! Whatta race!!!! Jimmie does it again... Well, I feel for Kenseth, he's a standup guy. But a "W" for Lowe's is a "W", none the less. Looks good on Mark Martin's front too. I'd like to see him do well again this year. Anybody know what Zip's problem was this week? I heard Kyle...
Thank you, Bruce!!!! I'm so tired of DW, I could shit! Only caught a couple laps this week, California is such a boring race, even on my "Nascar 2003" PC game, you get opened up and just run. The only exciting part is the re-starts.
Thanks for the link to the widget engine... very cool extras. I agree that the player needs to be larger. But it is very close to my Sportster, so I just programmed the buttons the same as the one in my truck. I wish they'd broadcast the Rawdog channel in it's entirety.
I also look forward to a weekly discussion with you guys, (in truth I hadn't even thought of that at all.), but it will be interesting as the season pans out. Steve, I check NASCAR.com weekly, and read a few articles as my time allows. They've got some interesting stuff. I like how you can...
