Here’s the problem with a Rodgers trade scenario- he’d have to go to a team that has most things in place to win, but lacks a real QB and no young QB option. Not many teams that fit- maybe Denver? They have Lock, who hasn’t completed a whole season’s worth of games yet due to injury and COVID...
Could Rodgers get two first round picks, a second round pick and a key player in return? I don’t think so- too much to give up for a QB who’ll be 40 soon, and who has had injuries.
I used to love it when the first round kicked off (pun intended) at noon on Saturday. Now that it’s on prime time, I stopped watching (my normal day- work or not- is between 4 AM and 8 PM).
They gave up a 2nd round pick for Darnold, so my guess is they won’t take a QB at #8 in this year’s draft. What would it hurt to actually be a little patient with Sam? Give him the team for this year, and maybe get somebody next year- my take.
It drives me a bit nuts that not enough teams stick...
For what this is worth- some “expert” has posted a recent mock draft, and the 49ers are projected to take North Dakota State QB Trey Lance with the #3 pick.
Another FWIW- someone thinks Pitts is the second best player in the draft, behind only Lawrence. Hmmmm.
Seems that the drafts and pecking order of player position mesh together the last few years (QB, sack specialist and left tackle seem to be the most important positions on a team). Interesting what the Falcons might do- will they take the best QB available, and bring the Ryan days to an end, or...
Just like the Mayfield stuff from a little while ago, this just isn’t a good look for a guy that you’re putting faith in to do the right things as the leader of the team, and kind of an icon of the city’s sports scene.
Yes building an offensive line in front of a QB that not everyone is on board with- what the heck is going on in Vegas?
I’m a little surprised that Gruden has kept Carr this long, unless he couldn’t get the right deal for him, or it would have cost too much money to part with him.
Yes what a player gets paid is based on market and ability of a team to pay it- I get that. His contract should be reserved for elite QBs, and to this point he’s not an elite QB, so Jerry is gambling on his improving to elite status.
FWIW- Todd McShay has his first mock draft first round picks posted. He has the Falcons selecting a QB- I assume this means Ryan’s days are numbered in Atlanta. He also has Carolina trading up to the #3 pick to take the Ohio State QB.
Not a great idea IMO to get rid of the current overtime rules- seems the current rules is more fair than sudden death. I assume the league likes sudden death because games are decided quicker?
The Chiefs are going to have a difficult time getting back to the big game- rare that the Super Bowl loser gets that far the following season, and the Chiefs are over the cap, I believe.
I forget who it was, but it was a talking head who predicted that picking a QB in the draft was going to get easier- meaning less chance of a bust- due to the changing of the rules- defenses can’t hit a QB as aggressively now, and the game is set up for passing offenses. This prediction may...
I’m still amazed at how fast things unraveled for Wentz in Philly. In 2019, he dragged a bunch of bad talent into the playoffs. Now he brings back just 2 OK draft picks. My buddy tells me the Eagles are over the cap, so it’s likely time to blow it up, and start over. Roseman is under all the...
Seems to me if Wilson leaves Seattle, they’re going to stink until they figure things out. Much like Rodgers and the Packers, the Seahawks are very (too) reliant on Wilson.
