    John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)

I've liked all 3 JW films. The best part of 3 was the dogs. A well-trained dog is an amazing thing.

The Last of Us (2023) - Season 1

Final thoughts (this is merely my opinion, so take that it for what it is worth, which ain't much): Started out great but had too many filler episodes that did little to advance the story. Ending was great.

    Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)

We watched this a couple of weeks ago, bottom-tier MCU for us. It was just kind of "boring", for lack of a better term.

House of the Dragon (Game of Thrones prequel series)

I thought all the boys had dragons at this point?

House of the Dragon (Game of Thrones prequel series)

I think it was kind of a "power move" to not do anything at the end. It's a bit of "I have you, you're toast if I choose, and there's nothing you can do about it". Probably a tactical error to not finish them as we know how the war plays out, but was a really cool scene regardless. Plus...

    Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

We caught this last night on D+. It was pretty good, mid-tier MCU for me.

    Cannot lipsync

May need to adjust it in your display menu, rather than AVR.

House of the Dragon (Game of Thrones prequel series)

I read the first 4 when I grabbed a paperback set off Amazon, and the 5th came a couple of years later. Still waiting for the last two lol. The part about the same story being told from two different sides was an interesting concept, I didn't mind it. Obviously, there are certain characters I...

House of the Dragon (Game of Thrones prequel series)

I thought it was a good first episode. Unless I'm mistaken, GRRM has only written the first of the planned 2 Fire and Blood history books. Kind of like we've been waiting years (and years) for the final two A Song of Ice and Fire books.

Upgrade to 3 way centre or use money for 2nd sub?

Yep, I run my center a little "hot" because I can't hear well at all. My vote would be a 2nd sub.

    PS5 and Samsung 8000-series poor Blu-Ray sound

So, problem solved. The solution was to get rid of the sound bar. I put my old AVR and a L/C/R (Boston Acoustics CRC and CR75 bookshelves) in place, and the issue went away. I'm using the same digital optical cable from before. I must have been asking "too much" of the Cinema 400, but it was...

Should I fix my Onkyo TX-NR515 or buy a new AV ?

I would put the repair money towards a replacement AVR, personally.

    PS5 and Samsung 8000-series poor Blu-Ray sound

Hi John - it's a 55. Unless I totally overlooked them, the only inputs I saw outside of the one connect box were a USB and an ethernet connection. I'll try to look again when I get home tonight.

    PS5 and Samsung 8000-series poor Blu-Ray sound

I'd have to pull the TV off the mount to verify, but I think it only has the one connect option for inputs - I didn't see any stand-alone HDMI inputs because I remember sweating because I couldn't find the one connect cable after the move. Luckily, I found it. The PS5 is sending Dolby Atmos...

    PS5 and Samsung 8000-series poor Blu-Ray sound

Just noticed an issue with my PS5 and my Samsung 8000 series TV. I'm getting what I would describe as "poor" sound on Blu-Ray movies from the PS5 to my Klipsche soundbar (Cinema 400). It almost sounds like a low-res MP3, very compressed sounding if that makes sense. The issue is not present...

House of the Dragon (Game of Thrones prequel series)

Pretty interested to see this. Although, instead of writing a prequel, I wish GRRM would finish ASOIAF so I can see how it was supposed to end. This has been dragging on forever.

    Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

We saw it over the weekend, thought it was great.

    Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)

My son and I were talking about the flashback - we both commented that Hayden had aged much more than Ewan. It dawned on me that there's a big difference in going from 20 to 40, and not as much as 30 to 50 (just using round-about numbers, I don't know their actual ages but you get my point)...

    Onkyo files bankruptcy

Wow, didn't see this coming. Long-term, less competition is not good. Although it paves the way for the smaller guys to bring innovative products to market, the "cost" of such innovation will continue to go up. As bad as I hate to say it, in this day of streaming audio "quality" and MP3s, hi...

We watched it and enjoyed it. Mid-tier Marvel for me.

    Moonfall (2022)

Update: it is now $6 on Prime. We watched it last night. As disaster movies go, it was OK. Certainly not the best, but it wasn't bad. Pretty far-fetched but interesting take on things. I'll add that I didn't care for how they presented the origin story at the end.

Nakamichi reveals Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 eARC soundbar

Thanks for the review. It seems like the biggest "knocks" are having wired surrounds and no app. The wired surrounds are easily overcome by moving the sub/rears or hiding the cables, and not having an app isn't an issue. Once it's set up, you likely will never need to mess with settings...

    Moonfall (2022)

This is available now to rent for $20 on Amazon. I'm guessing it's not worth the $20 rental - more of a wait until it is $5-6?

Nakamichi reveals Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 eARC soundbar

@Chewbabka - you have the 7.1.4 system? How do you like it? I'm leaning towards something like this for our new living room as a traditional HT won't meet WAF (it's relegated to the movie room). My biggest concern/gripe is having to wire the surrounds to the sub - not sure I like that idea...

    The Batman (2022)

We watched this Monday night. I thought it was really good, a nice take on Batman. I enjoyed that it got back to more of a "detective" movie.

    Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Trailer looks good, consider me in. I'm sure it will be as far-fetched and unrealistic as the original, but taken for what it is, looks like fun.

    Klipsch Cinema 400 - sub buzz/rattle

New twist, the Klipsch amp just had a loose power connection inside. However, it still wouldn't play. So, I got the cutout enlarged on the original enclosure with the new driver and amp mounted. It sounds OK from what I can tell, I haven't had a chance to really fine tune anything or fiddle...

This is the plan. I've already modeled an enclosure with BassBox lol.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)

Having grown up with "monster" movies, I'm excited for this. I liked the ones I've seen so far. Certainly not winning an Oscar, but a fun way to tune out for a couple of hours.
