    Restored "The Searchers" in 70mm

I’ve grown to love the Searchers as perhaps the best western ever produced. But with my visual acuity at 73 being poor and I’m not in a place to update to 4K, the 2006 Blu-ray still looks great on my 60inch screen.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Searchers -- in High Definition

I thought the older blu-Ray of this disc was just great. Why was this “restored” in a few words for the lost here? EDIT. I guess good news this film will get a 65mm transfer. Reading more upstream.

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

Going through some hard copy files today from an UK trip in 1997 and came upon some saved postcards. I’m pretty sure this was bought at the Imperial War Museum in London.

This book is fascinating. I’m almost done with the audio book with Jeff Daniels narrating as Paul Newman. Thanks for the ref.

Started This Page To Prepare For The Release Of The Classic Flash Gordon Serials On Blu Ray!

For commentary I’d nominate Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Both seem very familiar with the series and paid homage in their films over the years. I don’t have their numbers. 😷

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

We watched the 2012 Blu-ray of Lawrence a week ago and for the first time due to my vision problems we played with subtitles. The subtitles on that disc are done very very well with directional placement depending on who was talking. It was a revelation to understand all the dialogue for the...

The Greatest Story Ever Told renovation

The film was shot 65mm. A new 4K or 6K scan, clean up, remix in surround and please a smilebox version. I think the audience is there, well I’ve been buoyed by the response to this discussion.

The Greatest Story Ever Told renovation

I know, but I saw it on a CINERAMA screen in Chicago IIRC. It was beautifully shot. A plodding film bible epic but I sure wish it would get some TLC.

The Greatest Story Ever Told renovation

With the Wonderful World of The Brothers Grimm Blu-ray such a success I hope the same talents tackle the Greatest Story Every Told, please. That was such a magnificent image on 1965 curved screens.

    THE CARDINAL - 1963

There are some great actors in The Cardinal: Tom Tyron, John Huston, Romy Schneider, Carol Lynley, Burgess Meredith, Ossis Davis, Robert Morse and more. I’ve loved the film since original release. The 2003 2 DVD WB reissue was a very nice presentation and the DVD is decent unconverted...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ -The Godfather(s) 50th Anniversary Restoration -- in 4k UHD

Following this discussion brought me back to 1977 when the films were first (I think) shown on TV. I had to rent a color TV as all I had was a little Black and White set. So I get the rental RCA set in the house. Then the presentation came on, pan and scan I’m sure. But the color was all off...

Grimm’s restoration is remarkable. Love it. On How the West Was Won, I wish they had fixed that opening aerial which has the spots on the window or something. Always takes me out of the restoration. Wish the Grimm guys could take a new go at HTWWW

Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about…™ The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm – in Blu-ray

My biggest wish for next 70mm restoration would be The Greatest Story Ever Told. That was magnificent on the curved screen in 1969. Beautifully shot movie. Loved the Grimm restoration. My partner watched it with me for the first ever time and loved it. She wanted to watch it again immediately.
