    Criterion and Janus films sold!

There is always a profit motive. But it does seem like a good match.

Press Release BVHE Press Release: Avatar: The Way of Water (4k UHD) (3D Blu-ray) (Blu-ray) and Avatar (4k UHD) (Blu-ray)

When my 55" LG OLED got burn-in I couldn't ignore, I decided to pivot (for 3D purposes) and bought an Epson projector and Elite screen (which I place in front of my new LG non-3D 65" OLED), and it's been fantastic as a replacement for the LG OLED. I ended up liking the set-up so much I use the...

UHD Review Everything Everywhere All At Once – UHD Review

This. Exactly. Except I didn’t like it. But this. Thank you. I‘d been describing it as a movie by philosophy students who just discovered weed, but this is so much better.

Pre-Order The Apartment (1960) (4k UHD Combo) (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

I got it fairly easily at Walmart.com this week at a good price, and it’s still available, but now only thru a marketplace seller at $34.99.

UHD Review A Few Words About While we wait for a few words about...™ West Side Story (2021) -- in 4k UHD

It's really quite a lovely movie, with, surprisingly, a life of its own. I'm not sure I'm ready to proclaim it best picture of 2021 (especially when I'm going to see Licorice Pizza tomorrow), but can understand why someone might be there already. And the Atmos is essential.

Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about…™ Bringing Up Baby – in Blu-ray

I love Bringing Up Baby and couldn't care less if other folks don't. I just don't get all the hate for younger people who might not embrace it. I have two kids, one 32 and one 27 and sometimes they love old classics and sometimes not. And for all we know, it might be the "if you don't love...

If Your Expensive 3D Display gives Out, Will You Buy Another?

My 65” LG OLED had a burn-in problem I couldn’t fix so, after 3+ years, I ditched it for...another 65” LG OLED (it’s a gorgeous picture) but also splurged for an EPSON Home Cinema projector and an Elite 100” tripod screen. Best decision I made. I don’t have to lose sleep about my TV dying, and...

The last 3D movie you would choose if you couldn’t watch them anymore.

Not as an endorsement of it as the best movie made in 3D, I’d have to go with Avatar, simply for the quality of its 3D.

A Few Words About A few words about…™ The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

My just-received replacement disc (also knocking around an envelope without any protection) has a series of similar but not the same numbers as you've listed. There are about 3 such numbers following similar number sequences but not identical. Given my old eyes I haven't yet tried to write...

Twilight Time - problems working with XBOX One?

I can't seem to navigate the menu on Twilight Time blu rays through my XBOX One player. Specifically, can't move the cursor to highlight any menu choices. Anyone else having this issue?

The future of BD and physical media?

I love physical media, but I have to say, when I've streamed HDX films on Vudu, they look and sound pretty great on a 58" plasma display. No hesitations, rock-solid image, excellent sound. I'm sure someone here will explain why it doesn't measure up to my blu-rays, but I can't see that it's...

How many of you have actually used Digital Copy?

I've used digital copies to watch some movies on my iPad while traveling. Inglourious Basterds looked great in that format.

    Replacement for Denon AVR-1803?

I'm toying with upgrading my receiver to one with HDMI inputs. The Denon AVR-1803 has served me very well for years - sufficient power, happy with sound, etc. What would be a comparable receiver, Denon or otherwise, if I wanted to upgrade? I get lost in the specifications, and would...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Anchorman - The Legend of Ron Burgundy - The "Rich Mahogany" Edition Unrated

On two consecutive copies of the Blu-ray, the film goes into slow motion at the 58 min. or 59 min. mark (depending if you're watching the extended version), which can only be cured by skipping ahead a chapter and rewinding back.   Anyone else having this trouble?

36th Chamber of the Shaolin - Blu-Ray reviews?

Anyone have this new BD title? I've never seen the film, but DVD Beaver gives it a simply horrible review (a 1080i, rather than 1080p, transfer tops the grievances). I'd give it a shot if it were reasonably watchable, but perhaps I should opt for the very well-reviewed DVD version?

    Why I Collect

I say, let the kid read the comics. Books, even comic books, should be read, not stored! Just one degenerate collector's perspective.

    Why I Collect

That's not it, Dave. The act of collecting is not just the act of buying and collecting. There's also the little matter of opening the objects and playing them. That's actually part of the process. Just because I don't watch every one immediately (or, in some cases, ever) doesn't meant that...

Top 10 Movies You'd Never Admit To Liking

My own opinion is that there aren't any pleasures to feel guilty about, and no films you should be embarrassed to love. If you can't explain why you love them, that's a problem, but if you can, then what's the problem? As to Leo's question, I confess to never loving Vertigo, no matter what...

    Why I Collect

DaveF: I don't think you really got the right message from my piece (or I failed in conveying it properly). The joy is not in the act of buying, it's in the act of having and using. Yes I have too many discs, but (as is often the case) the next one I buy may be the next one I watch - it's not...

My take on the Criterion Collection

Thanks, Craig - what a great film. I expected to be impressed by it, but didn't expect it to be so emotional and human - I'm so glad I decided to buy it.

My take on the Criterion Collection

You may have a point. I did watch it on a nice 58" plasma, but in DVD, not Blu-ray. Don't know if I yet want to invest in a Blu-ray of a title I wasn't nuts about, but I do keep coming back to this in my mind. Maybe a second viewing might be in order. Thanks, Stu
