I've had the biggest back and forth, not knowing when my 6th day/wk rotation begins, for 5 days now. It sort of seems maybe next week, maybe the week after. But suffice it to say, like you Travis, work will dominate for the foreseeable future with 66hrs/wk starting shortly. There will be patient...

Annnnd.... It now looks like the 6-day rotation will go into effect on Oct 3rd. So that's that, it would seem. Hopefully, I'll hit even 31 this year. We'll see. Depends on how many patients give the ole' no-show routine and how fast I can do the paperwork. At least I can live vicariously...

I'm getting more and more excited about this year's upcoming challenge as we barrel our way toward the month of Halloween. However, it turns out I'll now be working 6 days a week starting one week earlier than expected. I thought I had until the 3rd week of Oct. Now, it's the 2nd. Once that...

I agree. You are thoroughly ridiculous. I mean, my 127 is sane, obviously. But I don't know man, I may have to give you a diagnosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It's right there in the DSM-5, under clinical symptoms - watching 142 movies in 1 month - it's clearly stated as the top symptom. :D

Ok, so here's my final list. I saw 127, of which 46 were new to me. I had a great time this challenge and can't believe the month is over! I enjoyed reading everyone's posts and finding new gems from the recommendations and reviews. My favorite new find is The Invisible Man (2020), which I...

    114. Friday the 13th Part 7 A fun entry in the series that has us back at Camp Crystal Lake and gives us a nice addition of a protagonist with telekinesis. Nothing special, and paint by the numbers, but still has just enough going for it that it's a rewatchable sequel. 3 out of 5. 115. Simpsons...

Very sorry to hear about the passing of your father, Suzanne. My father-in-law passed away on Oct 2nd. And yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of my grandmother's death. In fact, 20 years ago today was the most surreal Halloween I've experienced. We buried my grandmother in a cemetery on Long...

I have always loved The Fog and never understood why it was underappreciated. I thought the tone and atmosphere were perfect. Creepy old fashioned ghost story.

I totally understand about trying to scramble to pick out the last few films. I know I'm closing with Frankenstein, I'll watch The Wolfman, and I'm pretty sure I want to finally check out the 2020 Invisible Man. But there are SO many others I wanted to see this year too! It's almost like we...

I just wrote another post but realized I wasn't replying to you. Oh well. Anyway - my suggestion - go straight through the Edgar Wright trilogy. They're all excellent for different reasons. But they are brilliant and hysterical and still capture the Halloween feeling so well. Wright and Pegg are...

I'd also add Hot Fuzz and At World's End into the mix. Shaun of the Dead is the 1st of the unofficial Cornetto trilogy by Edgar Wright and staring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Hot Fuzz came second (their take on slashers) and third was At World's End (I won't say anything - just watch it blind!)...

Safe travels! I remember a flight to Paris in October where they offered a whole host of horror flicks (unedited) to watch on the plane. Totally unexpected, but I stayed up the entire overnight flight and watched 3 of them!

Another day of too many patients, too little time, and consequently, shorter reviews: 108. Tales From The Crypt About Face After a pair of disappointing episodes in a row, it was great to see one that rocked. This one was interesting to watch given the recent release of Malignant. That's all...

Watching Young Frankenstein, and 2 things come to mind with Gene Wilder and the gang up on the screen: 1) I can't believe that after all these years I still giggle as though I never heard the jokes before (particularly the Frau Blucher joke). 2) Existential and obviously then a very...

    105. Tales From The Crypt Terror Television Like the episode below, these are both usually highly rated episodes, however, for me, they are not in the upper echelon. They don't have the same playfulness or irony of many of the episodes in the series. Thus, they didn't entertain me as much as so...

    103. Critters (NEW) Another one I'm shocked I didn't see before. Fun little creature flick joining the tiny monster craze of the era. A pack of monsters crashes down on Earth, and 2 bounty hunters hunt them down to destroy them. Terrance Mann plays one of the bounty hunters (the one modeled...

I was way behind on reviews and I had WAY too many patients today, so these reviews are going to be a bit on the light side: 92. Dementia 13 I LOVE that this film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola in the Roger Corman days. It's a crafty little flick that sets the right atmosphere. 3.5 out of...

I felt the same way. I'd heard such fantastic things about it, and yet I found it completely boring. I was so annoyed that when there was only a few minutes left, I didn't even want to put in those minutes of my life. I felt like I'd wasted enough already.

I actually started watching the original Critters today on my way into work. I'll finish it tonight. I've never seen the sequels. Based on what I've seen so far, I'm not so sure I even saw this first one. I thought I had.

    86. Tales From The Crypt: Only Skin Deep I've mentioned that I love the series and there are very few episodes that don't rock. This one is a particularly creepy gem of an episode that finds an alpha male at a Halloween party who goes home with a woman he meets. This was a move he should not...

    81. The Haunted House 1921 (NEW) Fantastic Buster Keaton short film that had me in stiches (so to speak). I LOVED the fun horror elements in the second half, and of course, Keaton's comedic gold throughout. With a runtime of only 21 minutes, you have to check this out. I watched on YouTube. 4...

    73. Night of the Blood Beast (NEW) Oh Roger Corman, you always find a way to amuse those of us who love the shlock and campy silliness of b-level scifi and horror flicks. Here we have an astronaut crashing to earth impregnated with alien babies. Do you really need to know anything else? Typical...

    68. The Corpse Vanishes (NEW) Bela Lugosi in another scientist role. Here he is stealing precious body fluids from young brides to inject into his wife's body in an attempt to keep her youthful. Ridiculous plot, obviously. Still, it's good ole' fashioned stupid fun. 3 out of 5. 69. The Brain...

Count me in the camp that loves the original Frankenstein more than Bride. I usually watch it very early on in October, however, I'm saving a few of the Universal monster movies for the 31st this year. Frankenstein is likely to be the final film for this year's challenge.
