Atmos placement help for two seating rows, not one, on 7’ ceiling. All Dolby diagrams are only for one row.

All the Dolby info I see is for single row seating and I have two rows, couches actually. I get the 45° angles, and all the calculations when it comes to single row but I’m baffled on two rows. With my 7’ ceiling I cannot have angled speakers on brackets. They have to be flush mounted. My MLP is...

Poor audio connecting my Panasonic UB420p to my old Onkyo TX-SR705. Manual doesn't cover my set up

Thanks for educating me. 11 channel receivers are much more expensive so looks like I may be sticking with 7 channels. Question: Is there a difference between in-ceiling Atmos speakers and height adjusted speakers? I’ve looked on the back of the Marantz SR-6014, which is 9 channel, and there is...

Poor audio connecting my Panasonic UB420p to my old Onkyo TX-SR705. Manual doesn't cover my set up

Your response intrigues me. Thanks. I've never considered separates, mainly because of price, and my wife isn't into audio or HT like I am. If there is a way to have 4 channels of Atmos without buying an entire receiver, I'd like to know more. And, I have no idea if my Onkyo TX-SR705 can even...

Poor audio connecting my Panasonic UB420p to my old Onkyo TX-SR705. Manual doesn't cover my set up

Thanks for looking for me. After talking with my wife, she‘s thinking that if we upgrade the receiver we should probably put in 4 ceiling speakers. So rather than a 7.1 we’d need a 9.1 receiver (but I’m a complete newb at Atmos stuff so I don’t even know if that’s accurate)

Poor audio connecting my Panasonic UB420p to my old Onkyo TX-SR705. Manual doesn't cover my set up

Thanks for your input. I don’t ever see me using HEOS since the receiver is upstairs in a dedicated room, and we do most of our living downstairs, where I already have a 3.1 system for music. Considering this, are there other receivers you’d recommend that are also 110w, 9 channel, that have...

Poor audio connecting my Panasonic UB420p to my old Onkyo TX-SR705. Manual doesn't cover my set up

So in looking for a new receiver in the next year, I’d appreciate your recommendations. I saw a few posted, and thank you, but I’d like to move up a little in power and have the option of adding 2 more speakers. Here’s what I’ve been looking at but I’d welcome suggestions. I just ordered a...

Poor audio connecting my Panasonic UB420p to my old Onkyo TX-SR705. Manual doesn't cover my set up

Poor meaning that the audio sounds muffled and less crisp than the PS3. Same discs and same sound levels, checked with a meter. I'd love to get a new audio setup, and will in the future, but I'm sure there is an optimal way to connect things with my current set up...for now.

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 6100 Onkyo TX-SR705 Receiver Panasonic UB420 BD Player I was super excited to get my UB420, and the picture quality is excellent compared to my old PS3, but the sound quality is worse. On the back of the UB420 I am using the video out (audio/video) HDMI port. I'm...

Local supplier only has 1" fiberglass board. Change of plans?

Found a supplier! OC 703 for $1.88 a sq. ft. Is there a ratio for how many panels you need per sq ft of wall space, or just place them at reflection points? Looking at pictures of nice HT, I notice that the panels are spaced evenly and maybe not at reflection points? I found one ratio of...

Local supplier only has 1" fiberglass board. Change of plans?

I might have to do that. I would rather, however, get the 2 inch thick stuff. Does anyone know where to buy locally in NM? I've looked for links but cannot find anything.

Local supplier only has 1" fiberglass board. Change of plans?

Actually no, sorry. I couldn't find the Owens Corning board here locally, only fiberglass board used for duct work. Foil on one side, exposed on the other. Rigid. I assume it's the same as the Owens Corning stuff but a different brand name.

Local supplier only has 1" fiberglass board. Change of plans?

My HT is almost complete with dimensions of 23 long, 10 wide and 7 high (kids call it the shoebox) It will have laminate floors with a throw rug and two leather Danish sofas (modern) Since the walls are 7 ft high, I had planned to do a 3 ft tall thin pile carpet/wainscotting and chair rail...

I need to choose a single ground: Projector or Onkyo TX-SR705?

I understand the need to keep them all separate, which is why each one, (lighting, PJ and audio) will all be on their own circuit. The question was regarding a "shared ground". I've pasted the original question below just to assist. My HT will have three circuits: Lights/Recepticles...

I need to choose a single ground: Projector or Onkyo TX-SR705?

I know what you mean...they all share a ground at the panel. I guess it is sharing a leg. Did you mean to say put the lighting on the lonely leg or did you mean the projector like everyone else said? Why would you suggest putting lighting on the lonely leg?

Loggin in on the Mom in laws PC in Phx. Thanks for the input so far. Lights will be canned and sconces on dimmers. The part that werty mentioned about receivers having pretty good insulation properties is what I owuld liek further clarification on. I remember reading that Onkyo's in...

I need to choose a single ground: Projector or Onkyo TX-SR705?

My HT will have three circuits: Lights/Recepticles, Projector and then Audio stuff using two runs of 12-3 wire. So I have a choice on grounds. Two of these will be a shared (common) ground and one grounded by itself. One of my electrician friends suggested that the projector be on it's own...

Newbie getting Onkyo 607 advise of speakers

For cost savings and to get the most bang for your buck you might want to follow this link. They are an authorized Onkyo dealer, which means they will honor the warranty (Onkyo won't touch non authorized dealers items) and the items are refurbished. You can purchase an extended warranty rather...

Pergo flooring and how to compensate for reflection

Since our family wants to eat in the HT, we are thinking of a laminate floor. The problem is the "brightness" of a huge hard surface. From what I have read from Wayne, floor carpeting is about all you really need to handle the sound absorbtion in a normal HT, but with pergo, things change...

Onkyo 705: Trying to prevent potential hum.

Seeinghow dimmers are part of the lighting plan, I am glad that I have separate circuit. Also, and this may seem strange, we don't even have a cable or satellite TV so no worries there. As a family, we've decided to purchase DVD's with the money we might spend on cable, etc. TV is hardly ever...

Onkyo 705: Trying to prevent potential hum.

As I finish the electric on my HT: If I put my lights on one circuit and and components on another, will this prevent the possibility of the infamous humm that I read about? BTW, I Havn't taken the 705 out of the box yet (got it on clearance), and I have an SVS sub.

Potted plant or other ideas for reflection treatment?

Not knowing specifically what wainscoting is (wall divided with chair rail for two tone effect?) I would suggest doing what i am doing and that's using a chair rail to divide the wall, painting/texturing the top portion and using sisal for the bottom portion. It absorbs sound, is easy to install...

    Built in component shelves/rack

Hey guys. I've got a guy who is going to build in the shelves in my AV closet. It's not so much a big closet but a 24 wide, 24 deep, 60 high space. We will have total access from the back for future use via a removable pegboard panel (back ventilation) . His idea is to build shelves and put them...
