I just found out that my dumb job may be monopolizing my life for the majority of October so fine by me.

Halloween Ends is at the top of my list of new stuff and then I'll be rewatching all of my usual suspects (Universal monsters, 80's slashers and John Carpenter). Unfortunately, I'm probably going to be working alot this coming month so I might not get to watch a ridiculous amount of horror...

I was keeping track of the titles that I watched but I wasn't numbering them so I honestly thought I was around maybe 100 and way behind you and Michael. Once I started typing them all up, I realized I had deeply underestimated my couch potato abilities. :) I agree as it's in the spirit of the...

Here's my full list (spoilerized to save space). I usually use this challenge to rewatch all my favorites so I only saw two new movies (Halloween Kills and Last Night In Soho) but the rest were all old f(r)iends. I doubt anyone is that curious but I use the onscreen titles hence A Nightmare On...

It got worse, I forgot to write down that I went to the theater and saw Last Night In Soho so I forgot to list in here. Meaning that, technically, I'm at 143.

    126. Psycho (1960) A woman steals money from her employer and while going to her boyfriend, she stops at a motel. An all-time classic. 127. Psycho II 22 years later, Norman Bates returns to his home and motel. I think this is a wonderful sequel. 128. Psycho III A few weeks later, Norman...

Next up was more John Carpenter horror movies. 111. Someone's Watching Me A woman moves into a large apartment building but someone is watching her from the large apartment across the way. Carpenter's first TV movie is a homerun. I first saw this in the mid-90s on TBS(?) and I thought it was...

I went on a jag and watched the classic slasher series. 82. A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) Teens fall asleep and a burned maniac kills them. A classic that helped make Robert Englund the first horror movie star since Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee. One of Wes Craven's best movies and...

    76. Monster On The Campus A college science professor turns into a caveman and runs amok at the school. Wacky premise aside, I'm a big fan of this one too. 77. Curse Of The Undead A vampire is attacking people in the old west. Not bad. Considering the popularity of westerns in the 1950s...

    62. Revenge Of The Creature The Creature is captured and taken to an aquarium. Once he gets loose, he's not happy. Not as good as the original but still a cool movie. 63. Cult Of The Cobra A group of soldiers make a cult mad and a cobra starts picking them off one by one. This idea might...

    53. Abbott And Costello Meet Frankenstein Bud and Lou ran afoul of Dracula (Lugosi!), the Wolf Man, and the monster. A classic horror comedy. 54. Abbott And Costello Meet The Killer, Boris Karloff Bud and Lou have to clear Lou of involvement with the murder of a lawyer. Fun movie and you...

    41. The Mummy's Ghost The Mummy returns (again) and kills more people (again). More leg dragging and more stranglings and I love it. 42. The Climax A doctor becomes obsessed with a woman who reminds him of his dead wife. Karloff is as good as he always is but the movie isn't that good. Plus...

    31. The Mummy's Tomb Egypt (even on a soundstage) is too pricey so the movie is set in Massachusetts now as the Mummy strangles more people. This is the movie where the series shifts to the Mummy that I love where he just shuffles around and kills a bunch of people. After the previous...

I think I'd give that 'honor' to Jason Goes To Hell but I can't fault anyone who says Jason X is the worst. Both are terrible and, to their credit, they both did something different but at least Jason X has Jason in it for more than 5 minutes.

Like anyone who watched horror movies way too young, there was plenty of movies that freaked me out when I was a kid but I think Unsolved Mysteries managed to scar me for life. I watch The Untouchables now and I get nervous just hearing Robert Stack talking. "Shit, Earl. It's Ted Hollister."

Interesting idea but I'm glad John Cassavetes is in the movie because he's not as familiar to me as Redford. It helps keep the 'reality' of the movie for me.

I don't know anything about radioactive fallout but I'm having trouble buying that wearing long sleeves, a poncho, and a gas mask would provide them any significant protection if they spend six hours in it. Also, baby formula still not having been taken from a store after years? Dead people...

Since I've seen the Spanish language version, I've always thought how great the movie would have been if Lugosi had been in it. I like it with Villar but if Lugosi was in it, I might love it.

I can't defend this movie because it's objectively bad but I admit, with a fair level of shame, that I do like watching it. I like to call it Jason Takes A Cruise or Jason Takes Vancouver. And I legitimately enjoy the dated score even if it's pretty far removed from what Harry Manfredini...

Coleman Francis is another one that makes Ed Wood look like Orson Welles. Faint praise but Wood's movies are at least unintentionally entertaining while there's other guys' movies that are about as interesting to watch as drying paint.

I know that TV has changed greatly over the last few decades but I do miss the Halloween/horror episode of a series where that kind of story doesn't make much sense. I can't imagine how many 1980's sitcoms I only saw one episode of because the commercial made it look like it was scary.

If you had been avoiding Halloween because you didn't like the usual slasher movie, I have no problem believing that you didn't like the Rob Zombie one. For what it's worth, I like his Halloween well enough, love The Devil's Rejects, and The Lords Of Salem is so close to being great but...

This is a favorite of fans but it's the one Paramount F13 movie that I really don't like. Kane Hodder is the best Jason and if they had been able to leave the gore in, the movie would have been better but the movie looks cheap (even for a F13), the location is boring and poorly lit (you rarely...

The little kid was the comedic highlight for me. But yeah, the doctor stuff didn't work. I think they felt like the movie needed a twist so they just dreamed up something to fulfill that perceived neccessity and then no one ended up liking it.

He's the reason why I'm looking forward to a Marvel movie. Not that he's going to make a Doctor Strange movie like Army Of Darkness or Drag Me To Hell but I think his style is going to shine through in a way that largely stopped once they started hiring directors that were new to big budget...
