Inner Sanctum Mysteries Delayed Again !

Regressing back to the earlier "standard" DVD release of the Universal 1940s INNER SANCTUM film series. If you recall the print for STRANGE CONFESSION (1945) utilized had the cheap and inferior Realart Pictures re-release closing credits appended to it. STRANGE CONFESSION (1945) was reissued...

Scream Factory Press Release: Brides of Dracula (1960) (Blu-ray)

Universal's Inner Sanctum Mysteries coming from Mill Creek

"This is the Inner Sanctum. A strange, fantastic world controlled by a mass of living, pulsating flesh...the Mind! It destroys, distorts, creates Monsters. Commits Murder. Yes, even You without knowing can commit...Murder!"--The Opening Prologue Narrative from Universal Pictures' Inner...

Blu-ray Review The Mystery of the Wax Museum Blu-ray Review

It is interesting that MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM (1933) occurs in more contemporary times (circa the 1930s) while its remake HOUSE OF WAX (1953) takes place (presumably) in the late 1800s. The characters of the heroine (Fay Wray) and snoopy female newspaper reporter (Glenda Farrell) in MYSTERY...

Three Fantastic Journeys by Karel Zeman - Criterion Blu-ray Review

"If it were possible for Man to journey back into Time, back millions and millions of years, back at last to Creation itself, he would probably see the Spectacle of Life largely as it is presented in this film."--The Opening Prologue Narrative from JOURNEY TO THE BEGINNING OF TIME (1966)...

Scream Factory Press Release: War of the Colossal Beast (1958) (Blu-ray)

Sold! Albeit no specifics on any additional bonus special features (ie. theatrical trailer, audio commentaries, etc.). This was originally the (supporting) co-feature to Bert I. Gordon's ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE (1958) and now classic American-International Pictures 1950s B-Film collectors...

Pre-Order Bell, Book and Candle (1958) (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

It's good to see a (parent) company (in this case Columbia Pictures) getting behind and releasing its own product instead of licensing it out. This enjoyable fantasy-premised comedy makes for splendid Christmas-time viewing and I will gladly support it. It's allegorical connotation of a hidden...

Pre-Order Day The World Ended (1955) (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

First things first! Let's concentrate on what will (possibly) be available from THE ARKOFF COLLECTION 1950s AIP titles. And there are plenty of them outside the SF-Horror genre. Just how far Shout! Factory intends to go with these, who can say? Obviously these individuals can be reasonably...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Universal Horror Collection: Volume 3 - in Blu-ray

Somehow I pressed the wrong key here! I agree wholly with your assessment of these films. The only real "jewel" is TOWER OF LONDON (1939) which seems out-of-place with these other lesser B-film second features. They should have lumped all of the Karloff Universal films together in one...

Pre-Order Day The World Ended (1955) (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

“Werewolf. Frankenstein. They want to put an end to us. They say we’re through. There’s gratitude. Don’t they realize that the monsters I created from my first Prehistoric Man thru the Spaceman of the Future, why all these, paid for this studio? Made the owners rich and famous. Now they...

The Outer Limits is turning 50....

Eck was very benevolent. The word you're thinking of was "malevolent." Which Eck certainly wasn't. THE OUTER LIMITS (and THE TWILIGHT ZONE for that matter) were (generally) seriously profound and soberingly intelligent dramatic anthologies addressing no-nonsense social issues and concerns...

    Karloff-Lugosi Collection from Shout?

This is my "own" opinion and don't intend to offend but.... It seems that lately SHOUT! FACTORY (or SCREAM) has become more like KINO-LORBER STUDIO CLASSICS (ie. CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE and THE BLACK CAT) and Kino has become more like SHOUT! (ie. KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS). Frankly, I liked...

The Outer Limits is turning 50....

Let's hope that there's a disc replacement program inaugurated. It would be (tremendous) help if the "major" online home entertainment reviewers did their part in alerting consumers of this technical defect. "Soldier" is most certainly one of the best episodes of the second season to be sure...

The Outer Limits is turning 50....

Everybody got their second season (1964-65) blu-ray sets. Wonderful! (Pardon my directness on this) What about the reported "sound" issue with the season debut "Soldier" (19/09/1964)? Is this confirmed by anybody in "this" discussion forum or not? If it is, then just what is going to be done...

The Ghost of Sierra de Cobre (BD/DVD) Available for Preorder

You are the only one (online) to make a "stab" at reviewing this (recent) blu-ray release which says a lot (in my mind's eye). Much (likely) has to do with the general unfamiliarity on the part of most everyone about this television feature. In addition to the over-shadowing of other better...

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)- Olive Signature Release 10/16/2018

"Correct audio mix is three-channel Perspecta Stereophonic sound. Paramount has restored the track." Pardon my "unfamiliarity" but doesn't the inclusion-restoration of the actual "stereophonic" soundtrack a good (or persuasively strong) indication that the "original" SuperScopic print negative...

Boris Karloff & Bela Lugosi: 4-Movie Horror Collection

Bela (Lugosi) doesn't look as good in that still from THE BLACK CAT (1934) utilized on the packaging cover as he does in the actual film itself. Strangely he appears much "older" in that unflattering photo. For those who missed out in the original "single disc" issue of this Universal Pictures...

    Alfred Hitchcock Presents Season 6

Go-o-o-o-d E-e-e-even-n-n-ning! I have (totally) disavowed any "Standard" DVD purchases myself. And it would take a lot to make me want to buy anything in this (now) antiquated medium. But THIS is most definitely it! At (long) last closure on the landmark debut first season (1955-56) of the...

Night Gallery: The Complete Series Coming 9/12/17

Gooooood E-v-e-n-i-n-g!!!!! This is apparently a more efficient repackaging of what already is (a standard or by now well-familiar practice that has been done many time before) with (presumably) a better asking price tag affixed to it and for those who haven't availed themselves of this tv...

When are We going to see a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Blu-ray Release?!

Another distinguished VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (ABC 1964-68) alumni who passed away this year was veteran screen and television actor Don Gordon (November 13th, 1926 - April 24th, 2017). Mr. Gordon appeared in the excellent third season (1966-67) segment "Deadly Waters" (30/10/1966)...

Abbott & Costello Meet The Monsters Poll

This is a very difficult poll to participate in that all of the powerhouse "monster" actors in ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN (1948) are so awesomely good. Including Vincent Price's brief albeit highly effective voice-over as the Invisible Man. It seems like an injustice to everyone who...

When are We going to see a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Blu-ray Release?!

I (personally) never had any trouble with my VOYAGE or TIME TUNNEL "standard" DVDs. Which are still being marketed and doubtlessly successful. It may well have come down to the specific players as the earlier DVD players have been substantially upgraded to accommodate these condensed discs...

When are We going to see a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Blu-ray Release?!

"We were before LOST IN SPACE, STAR TREK, THE TIME TUNNEL and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. I think we were the first series of this type and we had a great audience. At the time I was originally on VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA, I was a little depressed and didn't like myself in that role. Then...
