    MY HT any thoughts?

Can you modify the dimensions at all? It is not good to have dimensions that are multiples of each other=bad sound

Currently in my rental I have mine underneath the coffee table and then I run the component cables behind the couch and to the corner where I have my receiver, DVD, etc.

    Basic Home Networking Questions

As an afterthought, I decided to wire my home for computer networking. My plan all along was to go with a wireless router however, I decided that I want the best of both worlds. I plan to purchase a Linksys Wireless G (http://www.linksys.com/Products/prod...id=35&prid=601) router to hook up to...

One question about them...are they very deep, do I need electrical boxes w/o backs on them?

    Dayton In Wall Audio Splitter

I am looking for a very inexpensive surround sound system for whole house audio. I have tentatively ordered this system from PE and wanted to get feedback from those who have used it. I am going to be powering it through a spare HK AV525. Will I need any additional amplification? I do not plan...

WTT: My killer p4 laptop for a reciever / DVD player

I have a Harman Kardon AVR525 and also a Toshiba SD3750 Progressive Scan DVD Player. I have had both ~6 months and the only reason I upgraded was to get the DPR1001 on clearance. My email is [email protected] if you are interested.

    Netflix

I would like to give my recommendation for the Walmart rental service. It would be nice if I could pop into the local store to return/rent new DVDs. I have had 2 DVDs get lost in the mail in the 6 months I have been with them and they will expedite them out to you-no questions asked.

    Best DVD Megachangers

I second Ken's post, I have the 985V as well. I did not buy it for SACD, but rather for the extra 100 disc capacity. I have had no sound or image quality problems. One thing most people don't like about the new 985v is that it cannot be daisychanned liked the earlier 875p units can.

Cheap DVD player to go with X1

I have had excellent luck with 3 Toshiba different models I believe it was SD4200 I am currently using. They all have worked well with my X1. I would second other's opinions and use the VESA adaptor. Much better quality than using the scaling (which is decent in itself) but nowhere near the...

27 or 32 inch Televisions: What is the best for $700 budget?

Check the deals page, I think yesterday or the day before Circuit City had a special on a 32 inch standard television that could be easily turned into a 1080i set with the remote (intstructions are even included).

FP DVDs only - X1 or other?

When I bought my X1 9 months ago, my g/f and said that we would only use it for watching DVDs to save on the bulb life. Now it is sitting in our living (replacing a 57" Samsung HDTV) room and used for digital cable/hdtv viewing as well. Buy it.

    CD/DVD Changers

For those interested, I was able to pick up the 985 for $345 w/ free shipping at OneCall taking advantage of a deal found in the Deals section. It was 10% off automatically, then I got another $10 off, and finally signed up for a OnePass account (free) and got 1% off.

I really jumped into it today!

Congratulations! Not sure if this is the same company but I just got back from Epcot in Orlando, Florida where they have this show called "The Ultimate Home Theater" and it features all of your equipment and installation by Acoustic Innovations. It was awesome!

How do you go about hooking up cable to a projector?

The cheapest way to get the cable to your projector is to follow other's recommendations. Get a cable box. I use a digital cable box from Brighthouse and use the component cables to the projector.

So what are the Certs to get these days?

As someone who just entered the job market after graduating, I can give some suggestions. Get some job experience!!! All my friends who graduated with MIS/Computer Science Degrees say they are worthless without any real world job experience (something other than selling PCs at CompUSA).

HTPC FOR MUSIC ONLY (for now) ?

If you want "audiophile" grade sound, then you will probably need a large hard drive and a good sound card. I use the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 (as do many on this forum) and I am very pleased with the results. I am not an audiophile, and have ripped all my CDs into MP3 format using EAC (Exact...
