I'd like to see a re-release of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (the movie) and a release of the series as well.

A Few Words About A few words about…™ The Lord of the Rings Trilogy & The Hobbit Trilogy – in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Was the colour corrected in the BD version or the latest version? This is the first I've heard mention of the topic. I never really noticed anything. Could you give me a good sample scene? Thanks. Doug

Movies You Changed Your Mind About

I have few but off the top of my head I would have to say The Graduate. I originally liked it when I watched it in the 70s but I watched again last year and found it exceedingly boring. Apart from the obvious "signature" scenes (Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me?), etc. the movie seems...

Subwoofer "popping" with new Denon AVR-590

I bought the subwoofer plate amp from Parts-Express this week and installed it. It is the 100A Dayton. It sounds pretty good although I will have to run the Audyssey setup on my Denon AVR-590 again.

    ATI 3850 to HDTV

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this... I would like to connect my ATI 3850 PC display card to my HDTV (Samsung LN32B460) as a secondary display. The adapters that came with the card are as follows... DVI-I Dual to VGA. S-Video to RCA. S-Video to RGB Component. The cable length...

Subwoofer "popping" with new Denon AVR-590

Excellent! Thanks for taking the time to do this for me. The PE amp I'm going for (the 100 A) is on back-order until Feb 20 so I'll let you know when I get it.

    Thanks Robert. I appreciate this.

Subwoofer "popping" with new Denon AVR-590

I appreciate the help Robert. The enclosure is 10.5" deep by 10.75" wide by 12" high or 0.784 cf. (inside dimensions). The port is 2.5" in diameter and is 8" long. I couldn't figure out the port calculator. Thanks.

Subwoofer "popping" with new Denon AVR-590

I appreciate that Robert but I don't have the money right now for a new sub so I'm going the PE amp way. The enclosure and driver are in perfect shape and it would be a waste to throw them out. I know it's kind of a "generic" solution but I'm willing to put up with it until I can get my hands on...

Subwoofer "popping" with new Denon AVR-590

Well, it looks like my subwoofer amp is on its way out. Since the enclosure and speaker are just fine, I will be purchasing a Dayton subwoofer plate amp from Parts Express to restore this Sub to life.

Subwoofer "popping" with new Denon AVR-590

It seems that this was not the end of the story. Yesterday the subwoofer started popping every 3 seconds without any input. The crossover and gain controls on the sub had no effect. I unplugged it and after a few hours, plugged it in again. After 90 minutes it started doing it again. I opened...

Subwoofer "popping" with new Denon AVR-590

Looks like you were right Robert. Being in Tech Support I always check the simple things first...just forgot that rule for some reason. Thanks.

Subwoofer "popping" with new Denon AVR-590

My 8 year-old Mission 8" powered subwoofer has started popping under load. I was watching a hockey game and the subwoofer started "popping" almost like it was clipping. I checked the speaker cone and it was intact. The crossover is set to 80Hz on the speaker and the volume control is set to...

choosing between 720p and 1080p LCD TV

I'm a little confused genedjr. You said your Sony Trinitron CRT "just barely fit" in your entertainment center. Was that height or width? If you meant width, I am totally confused. A 32" Sony would have an overall width of about 32". If you meant that "barely fits" means leaving about a couple...

What does one look for in an HDTV?

I am having a problem with your recommendation for a 46" LCD at a distance of >8 feet. My current set-up with a 10 year old 25" CRT is as you see in my picture. We sit about 10 feet from the TV and have never had a problem with viewing it. We are about 5 months away (Christmas) from buying a...

    JVC CRT Problem

Thanks Al and Dave. I was afraid of that...5 years does seem a little young. At 85, my father is definitely not seeking a top-of-the-line unit. I hadn't considered something like a Vizio but that might suit him just fine.

    JVC CRT Problem

My father has a 5 year old JVC 27" CRT TV. He just told me that the picture has recently started to become darker and darker. He says he has to turn the brightness control all the way up to see the picture. 5 years doesn't seem to be a very old TV to me. He will have it checked out by the...

    720p vs 1080i/1080p

I am aware of that. The question was whether or not the increased clarity was worth the additional cost at this point in time and would I notice a difference. Thanks anyway.

    720p vs 1080i/1080p

Well I certainly started something, didn't I? But I got what I needed from the various opinions. My main fear was that I was "locking myself" into a choice that I would regret later but now I know that is not the case. I will be buying a 720p 32" LCD as soon as the price goes below $500...

    720p vs 1080i/1080p

Thank you all...I guess I'll wait until the 1080p prices come down. Ii don't want to be stuck with a purchase I'll be sorry I made.

    720p vs 1080i/1080p

Thanks Jeremy. I was concerned that by jumping into a 720p right now (at 32 inches), I would be cutting myself off from a vastly superior picture for the next few years (I don't buy TV's very often).

    720p vs 1080i/1080p

I'm close to buying a flat panel HD TV (within 6 months) and I need some basic advice. The offerings now at some of the big box stores (Futureshop/BestBuy) are beginning to come down to my price range - less than $800 - and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The least expensive ones...

    Capacity of Home Circuits Amps

I hope you are recommending changing the guage of wiring as well. Putting in a 20 amp breaker using NMD 14/2 wire is begging for a house fire. I would recommend changing to a 20 amp "split" outlet if you are going to change the wiring as well. This way you will have 2 20-amp circuits. More...

    Questions about LCD Display Quality

Thanks William. Right off the bat...NO intention of ever buying plasma. Way too power hungry. I'm not looking for some kind of wizz-bang display. Just don't have the money. Besides I think that plasma will eventually die off - just my opinion. I understand that judging picture quality of SD...
