Remote Replacement for Denon AVR E400?

One button (volume down) on my Denon AVR E400 is now only intermittently responsive. So I'm looking at replacements. As I google trying to replace the remote, I see some on eBay and elsewhere but they look like generic, other-manufacturer replacement remotes, not identical to the original My...

Press Release PHE Press Release: Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone (Blu-ray)

Does anyone know if the run time will change significantly?

Press Release PHE Press Release: Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone

This is the crux of the problem with GFIII. At the end of GFII, Michael has lost his soul, completely, which means that what he has done--paradoxically killing his brother Fredo for the sake of "the family"--is irredeemable. So GFIII is all about his attempted redemption, but to accept the...

    TCM: Finally in Real HD?

I was disappointed a few days ago to see TCM present 1965's The Nanny distorted, squished from the top and bottom:

    TCM: Finally in Real HD?

A 1947 or 48 (i.e., pre-widescreen) film was shown a few days ago, and it was also stretched to fill 16:9. I still do not like this trend. Prolly time to search out TCM on social media and say something...

    TCM: Finally in Real HD?

I've been noticing a number of strange aspect ratios lately on TCM: Executive Suite (1954) was stretched wide to 16 x 9. IMDb says it's originally 1.75 x 1, but it was definitely stretched, i.e., looked like a 4:3 stretched to 16 x 9. And there was one other pre-widescreen movie that was also...

General Discussion The Criterion Channel Streaming Service (Official Thread)

Problem: Unable to switch on subtitles if I'm watching a film w/commentary. Amazon Fire Stick Film: In a Lonely Place Commentary: Dana Polan I'm guessing subtitles are not available when watching w/commentary track, but any help appreciated. :)

General Discussion The Criterion Channel Streaming Service (Official Thread)

I've watched 3-5 movies (including The Lineup!) in the past week or so, and no streaming problems--audio or video--whatsoever. And I was looking for them.

Will someone kindly post here once the new Criterion app is available on the Amazon Fire Stick? Much appreciated. :)

General Discussion The Criterion Channel Streaming Service (Official Thread)

Thanks. :) So I guess the early-subscriber perk of watching the movie-a-week until launch is available only on one's computer?

General Discussion The Criterion Channel Streaming Service (Official Thread)

In my theater I use Amazon Firestick. I can't find the Criterion Channel app anywhere on it to activate. Anyone else able to?

    TCM: Finally in Real HD?

TCM showing 1943's Best Foot Forward w/Lucille Ball. Problem is, TCM is showing it in 16:9. Obviously cropped from top & bottom. For shame, TCM, for shame.

    TCM: Finally in Real HD?

An HD grail of mine, The Year of Living Dangerously, was in HD this weekend--and in the correct aspect ratio. :) Please let a good Blu-ray be next!

Confession: I've never seen To Kill a Mockingbird. I just can't stand bird violence.

Yes, but...how does that happen? It's like the brightness is turned up to 11. :)

    TCM: Finally in Real HD?

For anyone watching TCM right now (Sat 3pm PT), what the heck is going on with the blown-out whites in Frenchman's Creek (1944)? I've never seen anything like it on TCM.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Second viewing today, at a local multiplex. Enjoyed it even more than the first time. :) A few stray thoughts: It's really a shame that Harrison Ford probably won't get much awards attention this season, because he's very, very good in the movie. Always inhabiting character, still rogueish at...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

^ Though I bristle at the "why can't you just lay back, check your inner critic, and enjoy the movie?" line of criticism, I understand her argument. But I also understand those who felt TFA was just too derivative, and that that compromised their enjoyment. It didn't compromise my...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

I don't blame Lucas for being defensive, either. I just wonder why he's doing interviews, because there's no up side for him if he's dissatisfied with either the film or the deal.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

^ According to Wikipedia, George Lucas has 4 children. He really should just keep quiet if he has nothing good to say about the new films. I'm surprised he didn't have a STFU clause in the Disney contract. But Disney's lawyers probably figured, correctly, that George slamming the new movies...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

I've only seen it once, but in Ren's vision, isn't there a shot of Kylo Ren at night in the rain surrounded by a few others and among many bodies on the ground? I assumed this was Kylo killing the Jedi trainees that Han (?) referred to.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

I would LOVE an extended edition (a la LOTR) of TFA. One of my criticisms is that there wasn't breathing room between the numerous action setpieces, and an EE would give that. Likelihood, unfortunately: Very Low.
