6 channel discrete from computer + sub?

Out of curiosity I set the front speakers to large and set the subwoofer to +MAIN where it would reproduce the low frequencies sent to the front speakers as well, but that did nothing. I'm hoping that the Audigy 2 or M-Audio revolution has a feature to "create" an LFE channel in this case...

6 channel discrete from computer + sub?

I'm not sure which forum this belongs in, so here goes... I have a Denon AVR483 hooked to my computer via the 6 channel discrete inputs. If I am playing stereo music or playing a game, my subwoofer does not output anything. Granted there is no LFE channel, but shouldn't it reproduce...

There is an "On" function. They didn't provide very good documentation. The manual should say Auto/On/Off. I leave mine on all the time.

    Is Bose Any Good?

The problem with Bose is that you can't do A/B comparisons. They always have their own little display set up away from the high quality speakers, likely so people can't do this.

My Dayton arrived yesterday, that was quick! It's lighter than I expected, which concerned me, but I hooked it up anyway. I don't have my receiver or speakers yet, but I set it up with patch cables from my computer. I quickly found out that I couldn't put my computer on top of it (vibrations)...

anyone try HK's MP3 Decoding Ability?

My AVR120 has this feature, but I never used it. I actually called H/K about this a year and a half ago when I got my 120 and the rep downplayed the usefulness of the feature. I never did understand what they were talking about. The manual states that you must hook the digital input to the PCM...

Ok, ok, guys, I'll go with the Dayton. :) I'd always thought "you get what you pay for" but in this case, I think you get more than you pay for.

Thanks for the feedback, Larry. I've been a fan of Velodyne stuff ever since I heard one of their drawn aluminum subs in an SQ car audio setup... wow was it nice. Any more Dayton users?

I'm not exactly sure of the effects of my particular room on sound, but it's is roughly 18x8 with 2 large double doorways on the long walls about 2 feet from the corner. The ceiling slopes from 12-14 feet to 8 ft over the length of the room. It's carpeted but has no "soft" furniture, and there...

Thanks, Jason. I had a feeling this wasn't the case. How about the Dayton, does it boom? I've not seen any frequency response graphs for this sub.

Since the sale is good until 6pm tomorrow, I'll sleep on it and probably pull the trigger then when I have (hopefully) more input. My only concern other than the possibility of it not fitting well under my desk is that it might be too boomy, being that it's a 10". Then again, I'm pretty new to...

I'm building a new speaker system for my computer. After being disappointed with Logitech's Z-680s for their hissing and awfully boomy bass, I decided to go with a receiver and "real" speakers. The receiver will be a Denon 1403 and the speakers will either be some refurbed Infinity Entra Point...

    27 or 32? ~$500

I've been looking at tvs recently. I'll be having my own apartment soon, likely not too huge though. The flat screen tvs have drawn me, as I have a flat tube monitor. I've got around $500 to spend, really not much more. It MUST be below $600, or I'd be getting out of hand. This leaves me with...

HK AV 120 vs Denon AVR 1602 vs AVR 1802

Is this to say that when I have this hooked to my computer and it's not playing something I will have this buzzing noise? That's a pretty big fault, since I'll have the unit on most of the time, since it'll be my source for all my computer sounds as well. Do you know if the Denons exhibit this...

HK AV 120 vs Denon AVR 1602 vs AVR 1802

I've got my search for a good receiver narrowed down to these three. I really do not want to spend much more than $300 if at all possible. I've found these from (I think) reliable sources that honor warranty claims: AVR 120 - $327.89 shipped from jandr.com AVR 1602 - $321.23 shipped from...
