All, Is the general consensus that Blu-Ray was prematurely launched? I mean, all the issues everyone is having, seems like it's not yet ready for primetime. I don't recall this kind of misstep with DVD's launch. The first titles weren't the best, but at least it was a real launch with plenty of...
Boy, this gets me thinking. Hard to pick just three. Fragile - Sting. A beautiful song off a great album. It showed me how wonderful and moving a simple song can be. Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis - Ralph Vaughan Williams. I stumbled onto this song during a music course in...
Thanks for the responses. I found some info at that site. It seems the sound quality is hit or miss on most of the tracks. No one had a breakdown of which were good or bad, which didn't help. I may pick up the Ultimate collection and find out for myself. It sounds like a great group of songs...
I was wandering if anyone had first hand(ear?) experience with some of the more recent Four Tops remasters. The greatest hits CD I have is several years old and has a very harsh, sizzling sound. Have the recent releases been done from the original master tapes? Or just a re-EQ'd version of the...
Trevor, That's pretty funny!!! Badwill. Anyway, I'll probably just toss it. It's a shame to have such disposable electronics these days. Thanks for the response. Tim
I took a dead Kenwood DVD player off a coworker's hands, thinking I could fix it. It was the victim of a lightning strike. Well, so far no luck. I'm getting power thru the fuse and it seems to a lot of components inside. But, it will not go into standby or power on, even though I'm getting power...
Kevin, I don't know if that's the song Brian is looking for, but I'm glad you mentioned it. I haven't heard that song in ages. It brings back fond MTV memories, when they actually played videos. I'll have to download it when I get a chance. Thanks. Tim
Andy, I checked out that Russound. It looks like it will work. I'll try to find one online, hopefully from somewhere with a good return policy in case it doesn't work. Thanks for the tip. Still seems strange that Pioneer wouldn't have made one of these. Tim
Jon, Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that I already use the pyramids for control from two zones. However, it only controls the master volume when the receiver is on and powering the speakers as A/B. It doesn't work with the multi-zone, multi-function (receiver off - multi-room on)...
I'm trying to find an IR receiver used specifically for the multi-room function on Pioneer receivers. The model # is MR-100. It plugs into the back of the receiver for remote control from the zone 2 room. I've looked on Ebay, Pioneers website, Onecall.com J&R and Parts Express. So far no joy...

Off the top of my head: Symphonic: Vaughn Williams - Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis (Nimbus Records) Pop/Rock/Whatever: Dire Straits - On Every Street Both seem to end up in the player more often than others. Tim
David, I received my disc. Sounds great, thanks. The first track from Insane Clown Posse is pretty interesting. I'm not much of a rap fan (or whatever category they would fit into), but it's good to hear artists getting creative with all the channels available. The other tracks sound incredible...
Michael, I have read that raising the sub can improve overall response. However, what the article specified was approx. half the height of the room. I don't know about you, but I doubt my wife(or I) would like a big box/tube elevated THAT much. But I would think you could experiment with some...
Michael, I think Richard gave a lot of good advise. Something I remember from SGHT mag a few years ago was talk of a platform for the seating area. Basically a large flat box completely sealed that acts like a drum. I don't know if it would act the same as a bass trap, but it gives you a...
Thanks for the replys, guys. I'm going to do more troubleshooting when I get a chance. Mike, How did you get rid of your ground loop problem? Or did you? Thanks again. Tim
Shortly after setting up my new Pioneer 45TX, my wife was watching TV/SAT. I wasn't home at the time, but she described it as "chirping sound coming from the speakers". Now before you think it's a problem with the receiver, get this....the power was off. First let me explain how everything is...
Jack,
You can get one from here , but $65.00 seems like a lot. I'm still debating it, but I'll try it with my meter first and see how impressed I am. If I'm underwhelmed, then I'll take the plunge.
Tim
Jack,
Man, don't rain on my parade;) . I'm really looking forward to using this kit. I'll try my meter and listen for improvements. Hopefully there will be. I'll post my findings.
Phil or anyone w/kit.
What about the adjustment tool. Can I use something else - screwdriver, allen wrench...
