I see what you're saying...but, as I asked above, why would this affect playback of the 2160 native source? See what I am getting at? In other words, the film was upscaled from a 2K DI to 4K in the DISC MASTERING process...but when it plays back through a BD player, it is sending out the...
Good to hear from you again.
A couple of things, though: First, why would artifacts show up on the FINAL 2160p transfer/presentation of the disc, when sending this signal directly to a 4K display? Do you see what I mean? It's not like the Panasonic is upscaling the disc to a different...
Grant,
In continuing this conversation about possible flaws with the UB9000's chapter changes, I'd like to inquire of something happening with my 9000 that I've noticed when mainly playing NTSC DVDs...
It's really difficult to explain (I'm beginning to think I DID get a faulty unit because of...
It's simple; just quote and endquote the person and sentence you wish to respond to.
But there are a couple of problems here -- first, why should the 2K intermediates cause artifacts in the picture when the discs are merely playing back at 2160P resolution? I mean, what would cause these...
It can also be related to poor de-interlacing abilities of a player, wherein additional aliasing will be caused by a player's processor. I experienced this big time on a first generation Panny DMP-BD10A...
Aliasing is the jagged edges you see on vertical and horizontal lines; it usually comes from poor de-interlacing by a disc player. I had this issue with my first generation Panasonic DMP-BD10A BD player, and it's the reason I traded up to the Oppo BDP-83 which, with its Anchor Bay VRS processor...
Now THIS is interesting -- because my Panasonic player doesn't indicate chapter number on the front panel screen (ridiculous shortcoming that Panasonic doesn't seem to care about), I never knew that was a chapter break. Still, though, why would the player trip up on chapter skips? This is...
I don't see that, Grant -- only the issue I spoke of, which is during the scene when the kids are about to enter the factory in the beginning. Before they go in, there's a shot of the outside of the facility, and the vertical lines of the structure break up unto this twitchy shimmering on my...
Except that I'm being told by multiple people, who I've asked to check these discs on their equipment, that they are seeing NONE of what I'm reporting -- and that includes the aforementioned Terminator: Dark Fate UHD release (another Panasonic disc player owner told me that he doesn't see the...
So what are you saying?
How can it then be explained that the same titles viewed by different people aren't exhibiting what I'm seeing? And wouldn't film content be different from what you're saying here with the electronic synch issue?
I watched Civil War the other night, and alongside the scene I mentioned in the beginning -- with the red book -- I noted another area that exhibited issues...towards the end, when Steve and Bucky are about to step off the elevator to confront the Zemo character, Cap's blue helmet piece showed...
Sharpness isn't a factor in this case; my Samsung's sharpness is at "0" on the slider, per the default (accurate) position in Movie picture mode, which I use.
I understand that. I do see the "frame skipping" and the infamous "Samsung microstutter" from time to time (I was able to mitigate this by dropping "Blur Reduction" to "8" out of "10" and Judder Reduction to "5" out of "10"; this shouldn't matter because these two values are supposed to operate...
With regard to my Terminator: Dark Fate comment about the beginning factory scene exhibiting some twitchy shimmering, can anyone who has this 4K Blu-ray check this area for me?
Interestingly (perhaps oddly?), I stumbled across these comments online from reviewers when I did some "aliasing on Civil War" Googling:
Captain America: Civil War boasts some impressive visuals in both the standard and 3D versions of the film included in this collector’s edition. The 2D...
There is no processing on my display or player being engaged save for the motion smoothing on the TV -- but this has NEVER given me ghosting or any other kinds of common side effects as reported by users. While I can clearly disengage the motion settings to test this, it seems strange that the...
With regard to the video processing on the PLAYERS I've watched Civil War on, there's really nothing that could account for causing this, unless the processors themselves were/are doing it, as there is no noise reduction, added sharpness, special picture models or anything of the kind engaged on...
Is it possible for high resolution formats such as Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray to exhibit video artifacting issues with their transfers?
Let me come at this from another direction...
I've watched my 1080p Blu-ray copy of Captain America: Civil War, since it came out on, first, a Sony 50"...
