Im sorry Im getting ahead of myself, if youre using an analog source in direct mode an SPL meter will be fine, the minidsp might introduce some coloration/delay in the sound signal but will be ok for home theater. It depends on the material and source what direction you wanted to go.
There was a digital SPL meter I was looking at on parts express but I can remember what model it was. To take it a step further perhaps using REW and a miniDSP to measure and adjust on the fly or Audessy settings on the receiver.
I bought Klipsch R15m bookshelf speakers for the rear channel and I want to wall mount them but I havent found anything that works. I was going to use the hangman mounting bracket and 3/4" cabinet screws but I dont know where the crossover is on the back or bottom of the speaker. has anyone wall...
To revisit this there was a problem with the 685 woofers, I replaced them and now I have a hollow sound from the right channel and I suspect the xover. the new 685 s2 sound fantastic but are not in the budget. hopefully Ill have a chance to audition Klipsch rp160m or rp260s as a replacement...
for that price, I would say either the SVS PB/PC4000, PSA v1500 or 2 or 3 smaller subs. If youre inclined to start a DIY project you could build this monstrosity and hide it behind the couch.

I have a pair of HK classic headphones I bought for work, they sound pretty clean with good bass extension. I use them quite a bit when I travel however I dont like being tethered while at home unless Im watching a video on my tablet and dont want to bother my gf. I have the...
I have B&W 685/686 speakers with an SVS subwoofer. right now Im using cube speakers for surround and one of the 686 for the center. I know Im putting the cart before the horse so to speaker by looking a height speakers before I get a dedicated center but I want to budget for a well rounded Atmos...
I have a similar setup, I was wondering if B&W M1 sat speakers would be a good candidate for height speakers above the mains or on the sides angled down toward the listening area?
If I can replace the mid bass drivers, get a proper center channel and get the full theater experience Id be happy with that. I just feel like I'm not utilizing the space with bookshelf speakers for front L/R. I have an older receiver and a 2nd living area, I could get towers and build another...
Sorry an spl meter, I tried to get about 80 db from ea channel at about a foot. Since I used my phone it's probably not the most accurate. Then a flat freq response using the spectrum analyser app from 25hz to 15khz
I havent ran the Audessey room calibration yet, Ive been holding out until I get all matching speakers and and height speakers. I just used a spectrum analyzer and a multimeter to adjust the speakers. it seems like the freq response is pretty flat. eq settings are off and the bass -1/treble is...
After about 4mo of reviews it sounds like they have the best price/performance for around $1k. The 684s2 would be a logical next step from the 685 but B&W aren't very efficient. The paradigm monitor and older klipsch I listened to were too sharp and klipsch reference I listened to at BB...
They sound nice but they don't have much headroom for cinema. I was watching wonder woman with my receiver at about 62 and I blew the mids. After replacing the drivers I want to step up to small towers for the mains. The tekton and klipsch definitely excel in efficiency.

does anyone know what the Tekton Lore and Mini Lore sound like in home theater for 5.1/7.1 surround. every review Ive read mention how well and "natural" the sound for stereo music but no one really gave them a good run in dedicated 5.1/7.1 surround sound?
2 closed lab12 drivers still only have an f6 of 30hz but some pretty serious SPL for sealed 12s once you figure room gain about 115db peak.
I really want to reach down to 20hz, the ported lab12 and sealed DVC15 can both do so but in a different way. From an observation the DVC15 has a lower...
I love my DIY Eminence lab12 but like a drug I need more bass. this might be more for the DIY crowd but for music fidelity and LF effect would I be better off with a Dayton DVC 15 in 3.0ft3 sealed enclosure or the lab12 in a 3.4ft3 ported enclosure tuned to 24hz, either one would be powered by a...
I found you could pull the nautilus tube strait out, but I dont know if the terminals are soldered or if there is clips. I have no idea if I have to remove the woofer to get to it.
well I figured to worse, with packaging tape and patience I was able to get the dent out now it sounds tinny. Im going to bite the bullet next week and order a new tweeter. youtube should be able to help me out from there, thanks guys.
I noticed the 685 s2 uses the double dome tweeter from the CM series for extended high frequencies, any idea if the nautilus tube would work from the CM5 or would the cross over be different?

B&W has a nautilus tube tweeter, would it be possible to just replace the dome tweeter or do I have to replace the entire assembly?
I cant get the dent out so I dont know if there will be a crease, other forums say to use a hair dryer to heat it up and use tape but I dont know if the heat will effect/damage the tweeter, I guess its worth a try though.
