Yes, it's lame and wrong-headed for them to reissue in fool-screen in 2003 (date shown on many of these 'releases'). About all you can say is that they are labeled correctly and they are found typically in the Wal-mart $5.50 bin (where they belong).
A bit off topic, but I really wish they would re-do the entire series on DVD. - Scream isn't 16x9 to my knowledge - Scream 2 CE is 16x9 (not sure about quality) - Scream 3 was done in 16x9 before 2 CE (I believe) and is one of the worst 16x9 transfers I've ever seen (tons of shimmer)...

I also spotted a copy recently of 'The Apostle' (1997) which listed 16x9 in the fine print. My copy does not show this and (unfortunately) I don't think it's true. Wish I had better news about some good movie getting a stealth upgraded...
