Outstanding and comprehensive review, Mr Yee! Thank you! I agree with the previous two posts about the significant upgrade in audio quality...I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the quality of the new non-HD audio mix (I use DTS 6.1 and DD 7.1). The balance is amazing, and the dialog is...
I did a quick yahoo search a forum search....no dice. Do you guys know if the Yoda puppet in EP I will be replaced w/digital Yoda for this Blu-Ray release?
I just finished this on BluRay a couple of weeks ago and it's still with me. Like Ron, I feel it's every bit as impressive as BoB. HBO is SO on their game on historical miniseries! I loved 'John Adams' as well, for that matter. The Pacific was very personal, and on some deeper level hit a...
Michael, this was a fittingly epic and outstanding review! Thank you. I bought the Blu on day 1 and was able to watch it late the other night up until the end of the shootout scene in the streets. Of course, I've about worn out my DVD copy, as this film is my favorite film of all time. #1...
From what I've heard, Al and Robert are friends. I don't subscribe to any of the ideas that the diner scene was anything but what we see, and they did act off each other. It's discussed on the special edition disc. What an amazing film. I liked it much better than Righteous Kill (which was...
I can live with that....just was getting concerned that there would be more instances of it. I already pre-ordered this from amazon so I'm definitely on-board!
You gotta say, Al's ad-libbing of that whole scene was awesome LOL.
Thanks for the heads up, Zack! Season 3 is pre-ordered with BB! Nelson, my friend...thank you for your help while I was working out that pausing/PS3 issue.
Time to revive! lol I LOVE my TOS season 1 and 2 sets! I discussed an issue with Nelson that I was having with TOS 2 where the episodes would pause during playback on my PS3. After some googling I discovered that if I disabled the internet connection to my PS3 (it's wired) that should solve...
I think another aspect that would throw people off is that the movie almost seems about 50% basterds, 50% Emmanuelle's character's situation, and they might go in expecting 100% basterds.
I loved how the film played out, just sayin'.
I'm happy if it's doing well out of it's first weekend. I'm doing my part to spread the word to my friends that I loved it and why. But word of mouth seems pretty split, so I don't know what to expect for the BO returns this weekend.
My wife and I screened this yesterday along with our 18 year old daughter and her 19 year old friend (male).
My wife and I LOVED it, thought it brilliant, the kids were bored by it, quite simply lol.
I think this movie shot right into my top 15 or so...it's amazing. I loved every moment of...
This mirrored my situation almost exactly. I read the books after I saw TTT in the theater. But it was the EE of FOTR that completely brought me around. The intro and alll other additions in the FOTR:EE sold me, whereas the TE on it's own with no prior knowledge was a turn off.
A compelling argument can absolutely be made for either version, I agree. They both work. For me, the DC showing the colony in full swing before it's overrun makes it that much more eerie when the Marines show up. But like you said, it ALSO work in the TC to have them just show up and try to...
Good post and interesting points, Nelson.
I for one, liked the nautical styled unis of II-VI. They were grand and theatric; great for the FILMS. Were they something that might be realistically used? I think not on duty; they looked too freakin hot and itchy! But for dress occasions they...
I was fine with the new film, but have to agree that Kirk's promotion from cadet to Starfleet Captain was a little extreme, even under the circumstances. Reminded me of those funny promotions in the Star Wars films. Han Solo, wanna be a general?? Luke, wanna be a commander?? Lando...
James, you would take Aliens without the sentry gun sequences?? Are you daft man?? Just kidding, but IMO, Aliens is much better in the extended cut. Interesting seeing Newt's brother and parents and the derelict one more time, etc. Back OT, I'll admit that an argument can be made that...
+10000000000000 on these statements. Peter has said that the theatrical cuts are his cuts, and that the EE's are for the fans. But I can't even watch the theatrical cuts anymore, and I haven't since the EE for each movie came out.
I'm having a really good time with it (360). Overall, it's a pretty nice package with some minor issues, but an interesting, cinematic Ghostbusters experience. The game has two really big draws for fans; you essentially get to 'experience' a third Ghostbusters film, as this was written by...
Paul, I watched all of the deleted scenes last night. They were actually some good ones...I particularly liked the 'new first officer' and Data and Picard's conversation over wine.
 Good one! God that layer switch....I'd even lose the audio stream momentarily as the player 'recovered' back then. I'm all over this one when it comes to BD. Opening sequence with the universe pull-back should be stunning.
