My 2 cents worth on "Brothers Grimm"

As I have never seen a film in a cinema that came via satelite so am unable to judge the quality. I very rarely visit a cinema as I have never seen a good quality film that was digital. On a home bluray the quality is great but in a cinema? It has a very long way to go to match film...

My 2 cents worth on "Brothers Grimm"

The Plaza Melbourne had been guttered over the years but was eventually restored as a function centre. The Regent is still a live theatre.

My 2 cents worth on "Brothers Grimm"

I too loved the Plaza Cinerama cinema.Pity they turned the front section into a McDonald's.

My 2 cents worth on "Brothers Grimm"

I also was lucky to have seen all the 3 -strip films several times in Cinerama. I saw How The West Was Won several times in 2 countries and GRAND PRIX ( 70mm cinerama) in 4 countries in 6 Cinerama cinemas. The memories will never be forgotten. My dream is to see all the 3 strip...

    DES - GAY TV SERIES

DES is a British 3 part tv series that is about a gay serial killer in London in the late seventies and early eighties. He was said to have killed about 15 or more mostly gay young men in his flat. David Tennant plays DES and his performance is riveting. With each episode running...

My 2 cents worth on "Brothers Grimm"

My name is not Spartacus. What I said was true. The 3 panel film was shown at the late John Mitchell's outdoor Cinerama in his large back garden . On both occasions that I saw it over the years there was someone who had many different sprays and sprayed them over the invited...

My 2 cents worth on "Brothers Grimm"

Glad that you also saw it John, in Cinerama. Was there someone spraying various smells during the screening to simulate the smells in the original film? There was when I saw it. The film was never released in cinemas in Australia but was seen on daytime tv once many decades ago.

My 2 cents worth on "Brothers Grimm"

I also have fond memories of seeing BROTHERS GRIMM in Cinerama when it was first released and again in recent years at John Mitchell's outdoor cinerama cinema in his garden. We also screened the film in 35mm where I worked but nothing can ever compare to seeing the film in Cinerama as...

    Tenet (2020)

Had a free ticket to see TENET.It was truly the most tedious piece of rubbish that I have ever endured in a cinema. Not surprised at the mostly negative reviews in Australia

    Tenet (2020)

Big budget films do not always make big money at the box office and it is often the low budget films that enter cinema history as being classics.

    Tenet (2020)

I always thought that GONE WITH THE WIND was and still is,the most successful film of all time.It made more money and more people saw the film than they did AVATAR.SOUND OF MUSIC must be near the top of the list as well.

I had the same problem with parts of APOCALYPSE NOW when I saw it in Paris.Luckily the 70mm print had sub-titles

    Tenet (2020)

I disagree with you. Nolan is my least favourite film director. His DUNKIRK was woeful in my opinion. The fifties version was far superior.

    Tenet (2020)

A friend's son works as a projectionist and he said that with only 76 patrons seeing TENET on Saturday over several sessions, people are staying home and too afraid to venture out to the movies.

    Tenet (2020)

Now IS the time to reopen cinemas-it all depends on where you live. They have been open for a couple of months in my city and without any problems. The virus will be with us for a couple of years so you had better get used to it. Personally I don't expect a vaccine to be available...

    Tenet (2020)

TENET is previewing from today in Sydney in 70mm at 3 cinemas and the rest in digital. . Seems a huge expense to have 3 70mm prints for the one city.

To Mr. Robert Harris: 10 films you'd like to have restored!

Agree with you. THE QUIET MAN was a massive success when It was first released and it was the longest running film ever in my city at the time.

To Mr. Robert Harris: 10 films you'd like to have restored!

Such a boring film. Never heard of anybody liking it. Other than the spectacular train crash, the film is devoid of anything else.

    Death on the Nile (2020)

I totally agree with you.Why wasn't Agatha Christie's name on the poster? Agatha Christie's name was always a very strong selling point when the original films were released. The film looks crap judging from the trailer. The recent remake of MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS looked dreadful...

Press Release Criterion Press Release: Essential Fellini (Blu-ray)

Why would anyone want to see a classic (or any ) film that is dubbed into English. I would avoid such a film like the plague. For me it is English sub-titles or nothing.

    Tenet (2020)

TENET opens in Sydney,Australia on 27 August in 70mm but woefully projected onto a small cinemascope sized screen and there are no curtains in the cinema. Why would anybody bother seeing it in 70mm under such circumstances? I did see a film in 70mm at the same cinema once, several...
