Since this is a HT thread (oh, is it really?) I'll add that I recently had to take out and test/clean the power switch on our Sony STR-DG1200 receiver so that the kids can play Minecraft without having to power-cycle the unit 20+ times.
I find it funny that after all these years with various...
Merry Christmas Steve, good to hear from you again!
I've posted in probably a hundred different forums over the years, but none do I keep coming back to yearly like this, you built something good here in Testy : )
I feel like this thread has become the equivalent of the abandoned diner, where the old folks still go and sit in the parking lot to talk about the way things were, while the bulldozers approach in the background...
And where is Steve anyway? Why back in my day, Steve practically lived...
Another necro-thread to say that the SVS is still working well nearly 20 years later, I LOVE it when the kids (some now grown) say "Dad, the bass is too loud" : D
Thought I'd necro-thread this one and give an update after ~20 years in the same house.
I wound up going with Plasma TV's over the fireplace and have had zero issues with heat, even though we run a woodstove insert in the fireplace ALL winter.
Also, after ~20 years I'm still just running 2.1...
Happy Thanksgiving droogs, hope all's well for everyone these days.
Saw my first grown up movie in a theater in a while (couple years?), Dune. Loved it. I've always been a big fan of the Lynch (Smithe) Dune *dodges tomatoes* so I was a bit anxious of this one but wound up loving it. Would have...
When I heard over the weekend, my first thought was how the droogs were fairing in light of this news. May the red panties of doom live on in his memory.
Had some friends over on Friday and we had a good time with a "Sean Connery does X Language" game, Connery does an Indian accent, Connery...
Well speak for yourself on the old thing, I'm not 40 yet for another 3 months and I'm gonna milk all I can out of my 30s :)
I actually haven't lurked in several years, I honestly saw the London bomb thing and thought of you and popped my head in.
Went looking at some of the good ol days in...
Steve, I know you're all fired up over Brexit, but you gotta keep better track of your antique armament collection :/

How the droogs been keeping on in here lately?
WHAT THE HECK...seriously, I cant leave this thread for a minute before it completely collapses under its own weight and devolves into...well worse than Connery in his red getup
*shakes head*
Introduced the kids to Bridge Across the River Kwai this weekend, they liked it. Its one in a...
Only one thing?
The thing I don't understand is why my parents watched it with us when I was ~13 :|
That New Years eve we (along with my 11yo brothers) watched Sleepwalkers, Goodfellas and Aliens (IIRC) (we used to binge as a family on New Years eve).
Funny how my own family movie rules...
Well for #1 you were technically correct with "Starshine" its just that we have a proper name for our nearest solar body. Substitute it and you'll have the answer.
For #5 where is Zen when we need him, he usually knows about these Japanimation thingies. Here is the same ship in a different...
Behold Zardoz...I have been summoned :)
Oh the dark days of testy ;) I think I posted this one a while back but all new droogs now. Name that spacecraft:
By the way Steef, how you coming along with that hardbound print edition of Testy you've been working on? I was something...
I have been a big fan of Insurgent since it was in pre-conception states. Back when they were still thinking up the ideas for the script, WAY before the cast was decided upon I've been deep in the fandom. I have several Insurgent tattoos that I wont mention here and have even set up a candle-lit...
BTW I got drawn back to HTF because of the Onkyo giveaway they are having (free stuff!), have you guys entered?
I thought the setup I posted was quite unique, but was quickly buried way back on page 2 (tough crowd)
Get it?!? "Testy"?!? GET IT!
*ducks out the back door*
LOL, that movie freaked me out as a kid, especially the scene when the dude is in the restaurant, blood going everywhere.
It was years before I ate slugs again...
Figure I should put my actual system (no howler monkeys in this one though sadly) as I think I'd drop this receiver straight in.
Paradigm Cinema 220 LR, Cinema CC center and ADPs for surround and surround rear.
