Right but you left out Tangina instructing to toss tennis balls into that “anus”. Again wasn’t scared but highly entertained and riveted by the craftsmanship, acting and direction of those 15 minutes and actually the entire film. To me it was like going to a Haunted House ride at an amusement park.
If you take it back to BB you won’t get an exchange as they are sold out of steels. Just a refund. Btw what was the Psycho issue? I have the release and interested. Hopefully you’ll get an exchange from WB for Poltergeist.
Similar experience here. Raised on Hammer. Now those are scary. Used to go w a friend all the time as preteens on a Saturday. Poltergeist is just so tongue- in-cheek all the way to end (Spoiler alert!lol). when he puts the TV outside the motel room- it’s hardly scary. But if others find it so...
I don’t know if I would necessarily call this a horror film. It’s unique in that it’s like going into a spook house at an amusement park. It’s both scary AND funny. One of my favorite films. Great direction, performances, editing and music. The best!
Going to the TCM in-theater event this weekend here in NYC to get the full strobe light / Carol Anne running-around-the-ceiling sound effects in a dark theater. Saw it back in 1982 at the Cinerama near Times Square and I’ll never forget it. One of my all time favorite fun films.
