Golly, a new (at the time) feature that is overrated & buggy???
No, the one extra cable isn't a problem. I was going to try another cable, but according to that other thread it's not worth it.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"..................
I didn't realize ARC is around 12 years old...
I should add, this is for the TV's tuner and Internet applications (Netflix & Prime Video). It would be nice to get rid of the optical cable. I'm assuming the HDMI path would be an improvement over the optical, or is this ARC overrated and buggy??
Correct me if I'm wrong; they both are PCM and...
I have a Hisense TV (65U8G) and a Yamaha AV Receiver (RX-V675) and I'm unable to enable the ARC the function. In the TV's menu, the choice is grayed out.
I have the HDMI cable connected between the sole ARC port (HDMI 3) on the TV and the sole HDMI out port on the Receiver. I have the "HDMI...
One of many reasons I'm glad I live in a metropolitan area (actually a city) where there are choices less then 5 or maybe 10 miles away. ;)
Frankly, I would of contacted their District Manager long time ago, them the letter to the CEO instead of waiting. Something I did 20 or so years ago with a...
This is the cheapest (and only) current ATSC/QAM tuner available (AFAIK); http://epvision.com/ They will have a new version by the end of the year available with a NTSC tuner. Current model doesn't have one. Regular DVDs' can't record HD.
Goldstar bought Zenith years ago. Love it when your told "never heard of that before". Yea, it must be cable. Their blue and green signal is missing. Have you tried the sets internal tuner bypassing your STB? "Lifes' Good" my a**.
Understood all of that, but question would be just how good the up conversion/procession of a video signal would be within an audio device. ;) And then there is the issue of $$.
I don't really have brand loyality, but I do like a company that doesn't have it's products made in Mexico or Asia. Especially when the factory in a 90 min. drive away.
That hasen't changed. :frowning: One source is for, say the TV input, the other is for the CD input. Under $500, but perferbably under $400 depending on how much bang for the buck is available now. Those $1k & $2k receivers are, well, out of the question.
Correction to model number on last post. It's a two or three button push to get it out of the SS mode and into the bi-amp mode. Confusing and overly complicated. Obviously, an afterthought. Labeling of buttons makes it worse. Also, no bass/treble control on the 2nd pair and the only way to...
The receiver is a Onkyo TX-SV525. TV will have: 2 HDMI, 2 componant, 3 composite/S-Video. All will be accounted for with one extra composite I will have to figure out where to go with it. I wanted to run all the audio into the TV and let it do the switching with one cable into the receiver...
Then it isn't a problem. How much or little does one have to spend for a average receiver and is it better to switch the video inputs through the receiver or through the TV??
But, I'm convinced that a receiver upgrade is in order. My question is; Is there provision to have a "phantom" mode in these new receivers to send the mono center channel infromation to the main L&R outs??
No one put a gun to your head and forced you to read it. If I wanted whinning I would go to work and listen the the women whine all day long as they do best.
Ok, buy me one. $750 for something I don't want. Back to earth, as far as what I have now. They are model 'Paradigm 9se' made in Canada bought back in the early eighties (?). They have two 6" (or 8" depending on how you measure) polypropylene woofers and a 1" domed (?) tweeter...
I can't host photos or I could show you the layout of the Living room. It's 15 x 15' and the equipment and sectional are at opposite corners on a diagonal. My current Pro Logic receiver allows 'Phantom channel" which is what I use. I assume the newer receivers allow the same. There is no...
50" Microdisplay Pro Logic Receiver CD changer S-VHS deck HD DVR DVD player Satellite receiver Use: 70% timeshifted programs off the HD DVR, 10% off the internal tuners of the TV (cable and OTA) 10% off the computer 7% CD 2% DVD
Those are probably what I have heard years ago. All I know I could "locate" them by listening and it was distracting. My Living room is around 15 x 15 (I guess small by todays suburban standards). The TV and sectional are at opposite corners with a viewing distance of 11-12'. There is a...
I use to 'hang out' at a higher end audio store back in the 80's and was amazed at the 'hype' for each and every new higher end audio product that was to re-invent the wheel. I always blew that off since I could never be convinced that spending 5, 10 or $20k for a system could ever be worth it...
There is a bypass mode to turn off that Motorola processing chip which I never use. Only the 'Pro Logic' circuit is used. At the time I had a separate int. amp and tuner. The TV had a Dolby SS decoder built in and I used the TV's amp for the rear speakers which worked well. I didn't research Pro...
